Lynne is correct that none of the so-called direct purchase "benefits" are guaranteed. In fact, they are only available because they offer DVC and the other Disney divisions a financial advantage.I would suggest it is fair to assume at this point that buying direct does protect you from losing these types of perks. It definately protects you today. And since Disney is trying to now differenciate direct from resale, it would seem even more unlikely now for Disney to remove perks like DCL from direct buyers. I now see the opposite. You are right that it isn't guranteed but at this point, I would say that you can argue buying direct does and will protect certain perks.
DCL benefits two ways from DVC bookings -- they get higher room rates than their normal cash prices, and they have the ability tho move perishable inventory they can't move otherwise. As soon as that advantage goes away for DCL, they stop DVC bookings. They've done that several times in recent years, including for extended periods of time.
