Hi all just wondering if any one could give me some ideas on how much it would cost for two adults for 14 nights to stay at a disney property not reallybothered with one would really need to stay on site as dont drive. Not really fussy about time of year was thinking maybe april or may whats weather and crowds like then? sorry for all the questions thanks Emma

To stay at one of the All Star resorts would cost just over £600 for 14 nights. However, I don't think it's true that you need to stay on site just because you don't drive. Neither DH (hubby) or I drive when we are in Orlando but we always stay on International Drive. A lot of the hotels there provide transport to and from the parks.

Try looking at www.cosmosholidays.co.uk or www.virginholidays.co.uk to get a better idea of prices.

You could also look at www.disneyworld.co.uk to get an idea of prices to stay on-site.

we stayed at the comfort inn lake buena vista and the transportation to the parks was excellant, we had a car but we often didn't take it to the parks...the buses were easier :)
hth :)

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons for staying on site to staying off site? Thanks Emma

Staying on-site gives you Disney 24 hrs a day - whether this is an advantage or disadvatage to you is a matter of opinion! ;) The Disney resort theming is as detailed as the parks.

Onsite guests can access Extra Magic Hours in the parks (one hour before or three hours after normal park opening times every day in one park). Any purchases from the parks can be delivered to your resort so you don't have to carry them around with you.

We really like the Disney transport system and think it's the best way to manage WDW without a car, however, it's not as easy to get out of WDW! If you plan to spend time in Universal / SeaWorld / Kennedy / shopping, etc., you might be better staying off site for some of the time.

Why not consider a split stay with a week offsite and a week onsite? That way you can have the best of both worlds :)

Yes, you can - it's not very difficult but it's not as easy as hopping on the bus to a Disney park from an onsite resort. You could get a taxi or Mears run a shuttle from WDW resorts to USF/SW/KSC.

Emma,

We are going to stay in October for 10 nights at the moderate resort, Port Orleans riverside, we booked direct with disney and are paying £880.00.(this is regular season room rates, £88 pn) This is for me, husband and our daughter. The US charge by room rate and that can mean up to 4 people in your room. This does not include any park passes.

We have stayed here before and love being on site, main reason probably is the theming and being part of it all...

We have also stayed at the Grosvenor resort which is one of 7 (?) hotels near down town Disney, i.e. hotels owned by other groups, hilton,wyndham, holiday inn etc and are on disney property. This could be a happy medium?

Off-site, I imagine you will not be paying the supplement of being on Disney property so your money will probably get you more space and extras included. Its a very personal choice and I think you must read as much as you can and maybe do both as another diser has recommended!

You also mentioned April/May, alarm bells are ringing a bit for those months, spring break, easter hols so depending on children etc, it would be cheaper and less crowded to go when children are in school and there are no major holidays. The first two weeks in November seem to me like they may be a better time to go in an ideal world.

My advice is read all these amazing peoples' posts, trip reports(especially the AMAZING Kevin Stringers' reports,) some travel brochures so you can see what the hotels look like, Simons' book and The Orlando section of Ottakers or any good book shop!!

The anticipation and planning is half the fun!!! Hope I have been a bit helpful, good luck, Prue :flower:

Here are the room rates for a standard Room at an All Star Resort for 2006:

Value Season (Jan.1 to Feb.15, Aug.27 to Oct.4, Nov.26 to Dec.19)
$ 79
Regular Season (Apr.23 to Aug.26, Oct.5 to Nov.25)
$ 99
Peak Season (Feb.16 to Apr.22)
$ 115
Holiday Season (Dec.20 to Dec.31)
$ 125

Prices are per room not per person and you need to add tax at approx. 11.5%

I can recommend using DreamsUnlimited (DIS Travel Agents) for booking Disney rooms - you get assigned your own personal agent who will process your booking and even book all your dinner reservations within WDW :) - all at no charge to you.
