We are staying at DL from 7/8-7/14 and will also be going for the 1st time to Knottsberry Farm. Even though we already purchased our tickets, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions of this amusement Park because we have never been. What's not to be missed? Where is the best place to eat? Does anyone know anything about Soak City, their waterpark? Should we go during the week or on the weekend? Our 1st night will be on a Tuesday at DL on July 8th and we will be leaving on Monday the 14th. Also, even though we purchased our 5 day hopper tickets ,we are only paying for 3 days. So I was wondering if we should do anything else other than DL Resort and Knotts. Please keep in mind that our last stay was in Feb. of 2000 and we have never done the new California Adventure. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Chip.

Chip,

You don't say how many are in your party, or ages. Knott's has some great rollercoasters. Ghostrider is consistently named as one of the top wooden rollercoasters in the US. They also have some other rollercoasters as well.

It's been a few years since I've been to the park, but I went with best friend and his 2 boys (8, 10) and they all had a great time.

As for food - I know Knott's really sells their fried chicken.

Enjoy your trip,
Diane

Chip, when we went several years ago we wished we had gone to Knotts our first day before Disneyland because it seemed old and rundown in comparison. I think we would have enjoyed it more had we gone there first. Its a fun place but I could take it or leave it. My DS liked it the best because he likes coasters. Have you checked their website? It gives a lot of info about all the different rides, etc.

We ate at Mrs. Knotts chicken restaurant, which is actually just outside the park. Really yummy!

We are in the same situation as you with the 5 days for the price of 3 for Disneyland, never been to DCA. Our plan is to just do Disney and Knotts. We're hoping this allows us to take DL and DCA at a more relaxed pace. Our plan is to do Knotts on a Wednesday (probably). But I would like to hear other opinions on a best day to go there too.

Have fun! :D

be prepared for old, rundown, dirty. also, a different "crowd" of people than DL and DCA--that's all I will say on that subject, you can take it anyway you like.

I have lived in So Cal all my life (40+ years) and I have avoided Knotts whenever I could (eXCEPT FOR THE FRIED CHICKEN).

It is I guess a good place for fast rollercoasters but...........

Lots of people like knotts so go and see for yourself............

I have never done the waterparks, but i would think they will be crowded all the time in July, but the locals would hit it heavier on the weekends if that helps

<font color=navy>I've been to Knotts several times, also, and it does not seem rundown and dirty to me. My kids go every year, and they really enjoy it. Every Christmas they have a craft fair, and I really enjoy going to that each year.

The Camp Snoopy is great for the youngsters - ages 3-8/9 or so. My kids used to love that area when they were younger.

Knotts has the best wooden roller coaster I've ever been on - Ghost Rider. They have another coaster called Jaguar, which is more a "fun" ride than a "thrill" ride. They also have the only coaster that I've backed down from. It goes straight up and almost straight down. My kids loved it.

The Ghost Town (& original part of the park) has exhibits, and an Indian part where Indians dance several times a day - we always enjoy watching that. There is also the Mystery Lodge, which I recommend that you go to - it's an indoor show.

If you go and don't compare it to Disneyland or WDW, I think you'll have a good time there.

As for places to eat - there's the Chicken Dinner Restaurant just outside the exit - the food is yummy there - but the line gets long, so be prepared (Knotts started with that restaurant). There is also an Italian restaurant that my kids like to go to - it's across from the Ghostrider coaster, and for one price you get all the spaghetti, pizza, salad, & soft drinks that you want.

I echo Mary Jo's sentiments. I really like Knott's. When we have extra time, we like to go there. And even if we do a Disney-only trip, we usually go to the Marketplace outside of Knott's, which I find very enjoyable! Knott's didn't used to have as many coasters as they do now, I used to think of it as more of a "kiddie park" since they have Camp Snoopy and some other mellow attractions. We ate dinner at a restaurant in the Marketplace but I"m not sure if it was the Chicken Dinner place. I remember eating nachos and margaritas prior to our entree though, and they were great! I think you'll have a good time there and there should be something for everyone.

You may need to rent a car that day, to get to Knotts. There are two rental offices. 1 between PP and DL and 2 is on Katella on the oppisite side of DL [main gate] Half a block up towards the freeway.
