Hi everyone,

we are heading to Disney on 8/16 and are treating my husbands whole family for his mothers 75th b-day, we are on the ddp but are very worried b/c his family are HUGE EATERS! I am so afreaid that someone or everyone will be hungry on the plan & it really could cost us a small fortune for even a snack (We are a group of 15).

Anyone have any suggestion on how to get a lot of food on the plan? Any secrets or tips? We have never used the plan before.

I have already made my ADR's for all buffets.

Any ideas or suggestions will really help!

Thanks,
Beth

buffets at night.........no one will want more food.

The TS lunches are HUGE. We normaly split between 2 people, and near the end of a trip, buy other people we don't know lunch.

You will spend some $ on drinks througout the day, and a mid-afternoon snack.

If any of your husband's family goes hungry, its not because they didn't get enough food. They probably have tape worms.

I would just let the family know that they have 1 snack credit, 1 CS credit and then dinner which consists of (app., entree, desert and non-alcoholic drink) or buffet with non-alcoholic drink.

Even the non-buffets give you more food than you can eat so don't be afraid to try them.

During lunch you can use a CS credit for a single burger with cheese or a double burger with cheese and bacon (just an example)plus fries desert and drink.

You won't have any problems. Just let them know they only get one snack per day and they are on their own for breakfast.

Buffets will assure everyone gets all they want to eat, but they are not the end all be all of Disney dining. Avoid signature (2 credit) dining and split cs meals. If 2 share a breakfastand a lunch, that's just 2 cs credits. Then they have snacks for in between times. Go. Eat. Enjoy. And quit worrying.

Yeah, we don't see a whole lot of "DDP - it's just not enough food!" on here.

With that said, two specific recommendations I would make for maximizing food on CS credits are Cosmic Ray's in MK (1/2 chicken + ribs + mashed potatoes + vegetable + dessert for 1 CS credit) and Pepper Market (ribeye steak + potato + veggie + dessert + gratuity for 1 CS credit) at CSR. For TS credits you're going to get the most food, of course, at a buffet, and the most value out of your credit by using it at dinner. Don't waste TS or CS on breakfast; you get less food (buffets excepted, I guess, but still not as good a use of the credit as at dinner) and you can get a whole box of donuts or bag of bagels at a resort food court/store for a mere snack credit.

As others have said, it's a ton of food. I would suggest not paying for anything OOP until the very end. We started off trying to save/maximize our snack credits and ended up having 8 left and having 2 CS meal credits that we were trying to use before we left.

We got bottled water at CS and it lasted us past meal time. We usually spend a lot on drinks and we didn't when we used the DDP. Sometimes we saved our CS dessert and ate it as a snack later.

We usually get a room with a fridge and bring down a box of cereal (also granola bars) and buy milk and just eat that for breakfast. We'd eat a cs lunch early and then have a snack before a ts dinner. Remember snacks are almost anything under $4 so there are lots of options from chilli cheese fries to ice cream bars to large slices of creamy cheesecake.:mickeybar

My suggestion would be to maximize your fun, not your food. Eat where you want to eat, when you want to eat, and don't worry about anything but having a great time. You won't go hungry.

Explain the plan to the assembled multitudes. They are all big boys and girls. They can find food.

They are getting the whole trip for nothing as I understand your OP. I would tell them the DDP is what you are providing, but they can get anything their heart desires and their wallets can endure in addition to (or not covered by) the DDP.

Have a great trip!
