i want to divide a 24 x 16 photo into a triptych but would like to mount it on wood or something rather than having mpix mount it on foam board for $$$$.... i'm thinking maybe just putting it on painted plywood or shelving or something but wondering what i can use to mount it and to seal it...anyone ever done something similar? i don't want to do a normal mat and frame

and since it has a dry brushed filter applied, if it looks alright in the "image size" view on my 22" monitor it should look ok done right? it might be soft in just a normal photo copy but i am thinking maybe the artistic effect would make it look ok. it looks ok on the monitor but i would be stretching it with a 8mp camera for a normal decent photo print( not sure how much i cropped the original since it's been a while since i took it, before i was shooting in raw)

so anyone crafty who could give me some ideas?

why not mount it on foam core yourself...?

i tried that once with photos and they kept falling off so figured i must not have used the right adhesive or something? that is why i thought if i sealed them after i mounted them it would keep them on the board or whatever

I have some that I mounted over 20 years ago that are still fine..and they have been moved around so much, from office to office and I don't treat them gently...LOL

I used glue that came in a tube and had a roller ball tip, or a spongelike tip, I think I found it at a crafts store..make sure it's for paper..., I put the glue on the entire back of the pic, then put it on the foamcore and rolled it using a small wallpaper roller, that ensures that the entire pic is glued, no air bubbles.

thanks, good idea about the wallpaper roller, could be why mine fell off

now i'm really wondering what i used before. i know it was on foam board but there is only one kind i hope? this one did have kind of a slick paper surface if recall. i thought i used some photo adhesive, maybe i bought the kind that lets you move the photos instead of permanent :confused3
any ideas where i can buy thick ( probably 1/2 an inch or so i am guessing)foam board?

great ! so this will be so much easier than i anticipated:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 this time i won't use chewed up gum though:lmao:

I had also tried spray adhesive, but personally liked the tube stuff better, easier to control and easier to make sure of complete coverage,
Michaels' web site says they have 1/2 in black or white,

I haven't looked for it in years but I also used a spray on UV protector

Make a quick cardboard template with a cutout for where you want the glue. Hold it over your mount surface and spray the glue.

Other options are 3M photo tape or photo corners (with a mat board to cover the corners).

Michaels or A C Moore carry a lot of this stuff in the framing area.
