 hi there folks...just wondering what your expert advice is with regards to this scenario...have spontaneously asked for a waitlist for any sunday through friday combinations in july right through the first week in september at hilton head in a 2 br a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised to have ms call back and offer 8/31-9/5 at hh in a 2 br one day after i spoke to them. i was glad and grateful to have that although it is partially post labor day (and i think summer tuesday night fireworks at shelter cove and gregg russell concerts under the live oak at harbour town will both be over as of the end of august). am continuing to hope for a miracle to see if any other time opens up at hh in a 2 br any time in the summer and then i would switch it. what do you think the chances are...anybody have any luck recently ? also...am waitlisted for vero 6/29-7/3 for a 1 or a 2 bedroom, no luck yet... should i hang in there? thanks so much....just wondering if any of you have had good news for summer hh or vero beach waitlists coming through over the last few years????? thanks so much!!!!

I sort of have the same question...when are the "busy" seasons for HHI and VB. Could I successfully go in May on (very) short notice?

We were there July14(sun-thurs) last year and did it at 7 month window. I even had my choice of July 4th week! I did have to get 2-bdroom which we really didn;t need. We have been many times to this resort but never in the summer. It is fabulous! Beach is amazing, we had a view of the fireworks barge from our porch(building 31?). They had a great poolside BBQ and lots of outdoor activites. I have not been to Vero but would not even think of it if HHI was open! Shelter cove has alot of stuff going on in july. We just added-on 50 points at HHI this fall to get some 11 month points! Hope you get July!

Just FYI: I called about two weeks ago to inquire, and they said they still had ocean view inn rooms available in July.

We have a 1 bedroom booked for mid-July. We'd love to change that to a 2 bedroom and are on the waitlist for this. MS tried to get me to agree to waitlist day by day rather than the entire week but I didn't want to end up having to move during our stay.

If it doesn't work out this year, we'll definately be spreading out next year in a 2 bedroom. I'll be booking that soon after we return -- at the 11 month window.:D

Summer is not usually that difficult for VB but for HH, that's another matter. Wait listing day by day is the best chance of getting what you want. You can wait list to have 2 reservations then cancel what you don't want/need before the 30 day window with no penalty other than the banking window possiblity.

Jody,
We were in the exact situatuion last year for VB (1BR) during 4th of July week(June 28-July 5th-2002).I booked at the 7 month window(using OKW left over pts) and I only could get the first 4 days at VB for a 1BR.I booked a studio for the last 3 days at VB and waitlisted for the 1BR.
The waitlist never came through for the VB 1 BR for the last 3 days :( ....so we thought if we had to move to a studio we just decided to go up to OKW for the last 3 days in a 1BR.;) This way were also closer to the airport on our departure day.
I would venture to say it is tough to get a 1 or 2BR during the 4th of july week at VB from our experience at the 7 month window.
