Any ideas for packing a large toiletry bag

I am packing-challenged and end up packing into the wee hours the night before a trip. I saw a tip on a packing thread to purchase a "family-size" toiletry bag and buy extras of everything you need in the way of toiletry items so you can pack the bag way ahead of time and not have to wait until the last minute so you can brush your teeth before you go, lol.

Anyway, I thought I would use this idea because the toiletry bag is one item that I am always packing at the last minute. There are just so many little items that I need to pack. This way, I'll have the bag to use on all future trips, not just Disney.

My problem is that I can't find a suitable bag to use. I want something large enough to hold everything for the whole family. I would like it to be somewhat moisture resistant due to the possibility of spills, etc and have compartments and such to organize items rather than just one big duffle. Anybody know of one to recommend?

Thanks,
Jackie :flower:

I am not sure how "large" you need, but JC Penny's has a great one on SALE. It will work great for my family, but we do not pack to much. Just shampoo, toothpaste, sunscreen, deodorant, few meds, and little make-up.

I could not get the link to copy, but here is the description from the JCPenny.com internet site:
Pierre Cardin Brights Travel Organizer

Top carry handle, adjustable/removable shoulder strap, removable mirror, multiple pockets and elastic loops to hold grooming tools and accessories. Removable water-repellent pouch for spillable items. 13x9x7-1/2"D.

They also have another one, but I can not remember what it is called.

LLBean has a toiletry bag that comes in 4 different sizes small to family size $19-$36 and many different colors. It has a hook so you can hang it on the bathroom door. I bought the family size, it is very roomy enough room to hold 7+ days worth of items for a family of 4. I was able to pack some travel size items and some regular size shampoo, conditioner and liquid bath gel and still have room. Lots of compartments so you can see what you have and things won't get thrown all over the bag. I am using the bag as a carry on to hold our travel tickets as well, the front flap zippered pocket is perfect for that.

Was just going to post about the LLBean toiletry bags, we have two and LOVE them. I love that you can fit lots of stuff but into compartments and then you can hang it up in the bathroom. I don't like cluttered countertops esp on vacation!

Hi, another rave about the LL Bean bag. We have used the family size one for a while now, its great and fits full size bottles. I just gave one as a gift to my inlaws who started to travel alot recently and they loved how it has spaces for everything.

We also have the LLBean bag and its great! One thing I like is LL Bean stands behind their products so if something ever happens to it, like the zipper breaks, they will replace it. I highly recommend it.

How big is the large versus the family size? Does anyone know? Is the family size one worth it (we are a family of 4). Thanks!!

We use a large toiletries bag also, but dragging it around is too heavy and sticking it into checked luggage leaves it vulnerable to being lost. Nothing worse than being stranded without luggage AND toiletries for a couple of days during your vacation! Since then I always bring a change of clothes, including underwear, and my toiletries WITH me. I tuck the bag, my clothes, a book and tickets and ID into a well made backpack - and can then use the backpack at my destination for water, snacks, guide books, whatever.

I find that I can fit more into my suitcase if I just put the toiletries in ziploc baggies and disperse them throughout our luggage. That way I can spread out the weight. I have a small plastic storage container that I keep in the bottom of our master bathroom linen closet and I throw all the little toiletry items in that until it's time to haul out the suitcases. In our hotel I use a simple plastic over-the-door shoe organizer to put everything in. Keeps the counters clear and my ds's roaming fingers away. :-)

I use the large size for myself - which holds full size can of hairspray and tons of other full size tolietries....the family size - if I remember correctly is almost another size wide as the large size....it will hold alot more than you think it will....go with the LLBEAN bag - you wont regret it!!!!!!

Got a great one from Samsonite warehouse. I check it on as luggage. It is water proof and has different compartments like the little ones. This bag can carry all toiletries, and meds. I carry a ton of stuff thinking if I have it I will not have to use them. Its only when you do not pack something do you need it. I re stock when I am heading on a trio with all new stuff and when we get back we use the rest of the items.
