We went to my ds kindergarten open house and were told that once a month we (parents) have to provide snacks for the class (20 students). Let me tell you, I am no Martha Stewart, I need quick and easy!!! I asked her (teacher) what they need, and she said "we take what we get". So, any ideas?

well keep in mind there may be allergies while doing this too...

maybe some cut up fruit and veggies? graham crackers? cheese and crackers?

it really doesn't have to be a lot....they are pretty little and not there that long.

maybe pb and j sandwiches cut into shapes with a cookie cutter?

graham crackers and grapes or mini blueberry muffins were my two staple snacks that I took in when I had snack for preschool

Goldfish Crackers, pretzels, cheese it crackers, carrots and ranch dressing, grapes. That's what I send in w/ my daughter for her K snack.

I always gave snacks that have a longer shelf life. I am not sure if you have to have packaged foods or if homemade is ok. Since we can make homemade, I usually cut up fruit or veggies for the first day. I then send up a huge box of goldfish, cereal, ritz bitz and maybe another cracker type item(this is for an entire week +). This will be a large variety for any allergies and they keep so if someone forgets the kids won't go without.

My dd's class loved cut up apple (rinse in lemon juice and water so they do not brown) and apple dip. They loved to dip. Small carrots and yogurt (again to dip) and the best ......fruit kabobs. Fruit cut up on plastic straws (wooden skewers are too sharp) I cut the fruit out with melon ballers and cookie cutters but if you are pressed for time just cut it into chunks. The kids loved them We used watermelon, cantalope, grapes and apple.

Those fruit/gel cups or just the fruit cups (or you can make your own jello).

Fruit bars

Fresh fruit (if something easy in in season)

Tings (they are Pirates Booty snacks), they taste like cheetos but are dairy free (my ds has a dairy/peanut/tree nut allergy)

Pretzels

Please do prepackaged.

You might feel like you "wussed out" and didn't try hard - but for any kids with allergies or (like my kindergarten aged DD) with diabetes, it is prepackaged foods or they are instructed not to touch it. It isn't a trust issue, there are just too many variables in home foods.

small peanut butter servings, I just brought a few of these with a box of ritz crackers and popsicle stix in today for DD snack, They can share maybe 5 servings per 10 kids.I also send grapes cut into tiny bunches with scissors the nite before with cups and juice.

Unless of course you know there are no allergies/health issues.

Then, consider the other extreme, a snack I ate as a kid: Take a piece of white bread, ideally Wonder. Take off the crust. Flatten the bread gently with your thumbs. Then make a mound of granulated sugar in the middle of the bread. Take the edges of the bread and tie them up into a ball around the sugar. Pop it in yuor mouth, wait 3 minutes and
BOUNCE OFF THE WALLS!

At DS's school, each parent provides the child's own snack on a daily basis. DS prefers the little packages of crackers and cheese spread (30 for less than $7 at Costco) and packages of pretzels (similar price at Costco). Also, the individual bags of fish crackers, cups of fruit, and the like are reasonably affordable at Costco.

I mix different types of cereal together, Cherrios. HoneyNut and Plain, Captain Crunch, Chex, Fruit Loops, just let your DD os DS pick a two or three and scoop into a baggie!

I would reccommend staying away from anything with peanut butter or at least make sure it is ok. My DD's old daycare banned it from her class b/c 3 kids had fatal peanut allergies. DS started kindergarten this year at a different school and same thing - no peanut butter allowed in any of the kids' lunches even if they don't have allergies themselves. Not sure how kids make it through elementary school without PB&J but I guess we'll find out.
Here are some snacks I have sent it to school with my kids...
Snack sized boxes of raisins, cheese sticks, Go-gurts, dry cereal like Cheerios or cut up apple slices and graham crackers are all good healthy choices that will keep the pickiest eaters happy. In the produce or the spice/seasoning at the grocery store look for something called Fruit Fresh - white plastic bottle with a green cap. You sprinkle it on fruit to keep it from turning. I use it all the time since my kids like apple slices in their lunch boxes.

If the school didn't give you any allergy info I would ask. With almost anything you could run into some type of allergy.
