any ideas for a fun solo birthday dinner?

sitting in a communal setting is sometimes the best way to go when eating solo. if you're the social type who can talk to anyone then that's the way i'd go. biergarten or tepan edo both sit that way. we had fun at la cava (the tequilla bar) inside the mexican pavillion. it's a bar setting w some really good tapas appetizers and fabulous margaritas. my sister and i went last month for her 40th and went in there for a late semi-liquid lunch (i.e., drinks and snacks) and met other people there, it was fun. if you were outside of epcot i'd say do the counter area at flying fish or the california grill. you'll get a great meal at either place and lots of solo travelers sit there as well as those of us who love watching the chefs cook.

hi all!

so i'm heading down for a solo birthday trip in February from the 13-17, and would love to have a fun, festive birthday dinner. i would probably be spending my time in Epcot that day.

i absolutely love the rose and crown, and would love to try le cellier but it is already booked.

i'd also be willing to try the biergarten but am somewhat leery of being solo in a communal sitting.

any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance!

I was thinking about that as well. I wil be there the first week of May as a birthday present to myself and I was trying to figure out where to celebrate ME! I'm not fond of the family style meals, it's not because I don't wish to meet people but more of I don't want to feel obligated to have a conversation with someone.
Is there a cuisine you prefer or like you eluded to...a country....

I will be solo on my birthday on the Disney Wonder this month. Not that this comment answers your question, however it's just to let you know that your not alone in celebrating your solo Disney birthday. I hope whatever you decide to do you have a wonderful birthday.

As a single who has spent a number of birthdays and major holidays traveling alone, I would recommend going someplace like the bar at the Ca Grill. The bartenders are friendly and the food is outstanding. If you are into wines, you have an amazing opportunity to try a number of different ones. The turn over at the bar is not quick, so you would have the opportunity to strike up a conversation if you wanted to. The other place I like to go is Jiko and sit at the counter in the restaurant. The chefs come over to talk to you, so you won't feel alone.

Seriously, whatever food appeals to you, just go there. I love to Party at the Tune Inn Lounge at the 50's Prime Time. The bartenders are fun, the food is comfort and the drinks rock.

I had my first ever martini at the California Grill for my solo birthday two years ago.

Three years ago I had dinner at Le Bistro solo for my birthday in honor of doing to Disneyland Paris solo for one of those annoying birthdays ending in zero a couple years previous.

This year my birthday falls during President's Week so I'm going earlier in the month -- four weeks from today. :dance3:

I have reservations for my first time at Rose & Crown. Glad you liked it.

Sure, the food is burgers and fries, but they are awesome. It's a fun atmosphere, the servers are great, and the sundaes are the best. I love sitting at the counter when I'm solo. Last time I was there, I met a really nice AP holder and we had a great Disney chat.
