Any idea when we can buy WDW annual passes?

The 30-day wait was actually only 8 as we got a call back and the new AP vouchers are in our accounts.

We called 12 days ago, I'm hoping we are up soon. Our trip is in 3 weeks. We didn't decide for sure on this trip until about 2 weeks ago. Hmm might have something to do with getting the vaccine.

Anyone have a guess as to what the new pricing will be once APs go on sale again? I know it's all conjecture at this point, just wondering what you think Disney will do regarding raising prices.
I don’t think it’s going to change. APs still exist and they’re selling renewals. It’s a different situation from Disneyland where they got rid of all of them and announced they’re going to implement a new program.

Maybe for DL. I don't see it at WDW. Even for DL I think there will be some sort of pass system but it might be radically different. Maybe limited hours, or days of week. Different tiers of passes maybe?

If they got rid of monthly payments, that would reduce the crowds. I get it that Disney wants to be first in line for every family's entertainment dollar, but some of that money maybe should have been better spent on needs rather than wants.

I don't have a sense for how common monthly payments are/were. As out of state WDW pass holders that wasn't an option for us.

I can pay for my AP outright, the last several years I did the payment plan. Why not, it's interest free and I get to hold onto my money. I also get a push to go more often when seeing a bill once a month on my credit card statement. I tend to get more of my money's worth out of it. Not everyone does payment plan because they cannot afford it.

If the price is the same as paying outright, monthly payments can be the smarter option for sure. We will often finance things if they offer us 0%, because we know we are disciplined enough to pay it off on time and it let's us hold onto that cash for emergencies or just interest.

Actually i wouldn't be shocked to see disney go to a membership model like a lot of other chains like six flags have been moving toward.

So, get people to buy and pay for a month in advance instead of a year?

Most membership plans have a 12 month minimum but then just keep going. No "do I want to renew my pass for another year?" point. The idea is it just becomes part of your monthly budget and for people to just keep paying on them.

I don't see how that will reduce the number of passholders. Just the opposite, in fact!

So, if they do that, Disney would still get your money, while reducing access/attendance in other ways. Clever.

And another advantage to disney (and one reason why other parks are doing it) is that is provides stable income year round. Disney probably not as much as seasonal parks, but I'm sure there are times of the year with much higher AP sales then other months. Memberships provide steady income every month.

Also of course people are more likely to let it roll over to another month vs having to make a year long decision.

I'm a little confused about who is eligible to get APs now. We had APs last year that expired in December 2020. We didn't renew because we weren't sure we'd be going with the uncertainty of COVID and vaccine timelines. Well, we regret that now and I've heard that some people who let their passes expire from last year have been able to purchase new ones. Do you think I would be eligible? We had four Platinum APs.

You should be. We cancelled ours but they would have expired last June. We were able to get new vouchers.
