Any idea of when new DVC members can purchase annual pass?

My point exactly! I am a new member and so I have not previously held an AP- but now that I will be making more trips per year it might just make sense for me. I was simply asking if anyone might happen to know when they might start selling them again? But I suppose this is the question of the year as no one really knows anything. For now I will just take the dining and shopping credits and be satisfied with that. We go in June and so I was just hoping by then we might know something.
My family is in the exact same boat. We bought our contact pre Covid but our first trip was scheduled September of 2020. In hindsight we would have bought our contract on the resale market. Discounted APs was a the main perk that influenced us to buy direct. What shopping and dining credits were you offered? We were offered nothing when we pleased our case to member services.

All owners who have a qualified blue card have access to dining and merchandise discounts it is a different perk from the AP.

Currently, it’s 20% off merchandise and 10% of most TS meals not including alcohol.

Ok, I'm following now.

Just returned from a 11 day stay at WDW- the dining and shopping discounts really did save us alot of money this trip. Without the dining plan or TIW, this little bit helped us out alot.

We purchased Gold Passes in early January 2020, but decided against activating them due to uncertainties surrounding the COVID pandemic, which became more and more dire as the month progressed. We didn’t know how it would affect travel in general and our WDW trips specifically or for how long. Here we are 18 months later - both of us have been home working remotely for 15 months (and counting), but are finally returning to WDW next month, passes ready to activate. I hope the annual pass situation works itself out soon for all, but most especially for DVC members.

There are roughly three months now until the 50th anniversary. I expect that most, if not all, perks will return before that, including the annual pass. I expect that there will be a return to full capacity in the parks by the end of July or early August.

I'm inclined to think they'd want an anniversary in all of it's full glory - without restrictions.

That said, there's a bug in the back of my mind. If they don't offer annual passes again until after 50th, wouldn't that get them a bit more cash? Big fans will pay the individual park tickets for the 50th and they will probably gladly cough up more once APs are back.

This is my hope, as a lot of the “hardcore” fans will be coming in for the 50th anniversary in October including myself. That’s closely followed by the holidays when a lot of people also go. My hope is they’d get it figured out soon so that we could buy APs and use them on those trips. I have to make plans in advance, so announcing close to October isn’t going to help me much. I’ll have to buy day passes and how they allow me to apply the credit.

I'm sure Disney hopes to sell a lot of DVC contracts during the 50th, since crowds will be bigger. The discounted AP would be a great direct sales incentive. We have saved $thousands on APs since the perk inception

Any tickets you buy keep their original value. We have our tix for F & W and plan to apply them to DVC AP's. We are holding out for a spring trip 2022 and doubt we'll go without AP's.

C'mon WDW, get your act together! :crazy2:

I find the DISboards both valuable and infuriating! We purchased platinum plus passes in February of 2020 for our April 2020 trip that never happened, my family of 4 each as a $1200 pass unused loaded into our account. I asked the guide I am working with if we could exchange that for a gold pass and get gift cards back, thinking I could get a $2000 back to put towards a few years of dues. He said annual passes are not currently being sold so there isn't even a price for that right now. This all makes me question my guide even more a d be less likely to spend money with him. This is why a love you guys so much but y'all make me become Mr Anger all at the same time.

DVC would not be the ones who can help you that. Only ticketing can. Because you did purchase vouchers and have them available for use, you at least have something. But, I would contact the VIPassholder department and ask to talk to someone who is dealing with the recovery offer.

Normally, Disney does not give refunds, but it won't hurt to ask them. Right now, they are the only ones who can help with the change!

I can appreciate it's not the guides wheel house. The thing that irks me is they are selling new ones under limited conditions so they do have a price. Be honest, give me the same answer you just did. Don't give me one answer that makes me feel like I need to fact check a political debate.

Maybe they are new? Or they don’t keep up on the ins and outs if ticketing because their job is to sell the points

I guess I don’t see it as a big deal for them not to have the same info as they are Different departments.

Just throwing this out there, if annual passes return this year, would I be able to use what I have spent already towards the cost? Planning another short trip down over labor day and would like to know.

Normally, if you have bought a ticket to use for that trip, then you can upgrade it to an AP.

If the ticket is already used during a prior trip then when sales come back, you won’t get any credit for that.

Ugh that is what I thought. Just a shame we spent alot for our June tickets

We bought tickets/park hopper for 2 people March -13 and tickets for 4 people June 3-8. We spent more on the tickets than we would have for the 4 DVC gold passes. We just became DVC in Aug 2020, so we had no prior gold pass. We let our AP expire the summer of 2019 due to surgery. We asked over and over. Nope. We even went with the AP shirts, orange AP sliders, AP hat, DVC logo on shirt. Nada. They offered us a free Riviera cardboard picture for each of our family members. LOL

Owned since '08 and buy AP's every other year. 2020 was an off year anyway for us so I didn't think anything of not having an AP until suddenly they stopped selling them. :(
