Holy cow!! Airfare is killing me!!

The same (pretty much) flight we just took in December costs me about $650 for all three of us. It is now about $1100 q:scared1:

Any hopes of airfare going down? I am hoping to get it much cheaper!!

I bought in June for our November trip and they both did finally come down. Southwest and Airtran both gave me credit. I would still just prefer to pay low to begin with although the airtran was what we have paid for the past 7 Novembers, the southwest leg is higher by about $30 pp than we have paid in the past.

I feel your pain. Been trying to book my birthday trip for months and the airfare to London is so expensive. I went two years ago and only paid $500 round trip. Last time I checked it was $890.:scared1:

I am hoping it drops in October which is when I booked it last year. It is Europe in Winter.

Keeping my fingers crossed as well. Refinery contracts are up next year so we should see the gas prices going down after summer and even more in the beginning of the year. I'm holding out for Feb to buy mine.

There really is a science to low airfare. Sign up on sites like airfarewatchdog and farecompare. You will get an email when a fare you have been watching goes down. Airfare sales are posted for most all airlines on Tuesdays around 3pm ET. Always buy Tue-Thur. Most sales go off on Fri. Never buy on a weekend, and try to fly on Tue, Wed or Sat, as they are the cheapest days to fly. It seems that offers start to come around 60-90 days before your flight. Southwest BING! has some deals sometimes. I also like Tom Parson's Best Fares site. Look at nearby airports also.

I had been watching Nashville to Orlando since April, then one afternoon a couple of weeks ago, out of the blue I got an email from airfarewatchdog for an unadvertised Delta flight for $96 RT each! A few hours later it was gone, and I was so glad I jumped on it and booked it right then. I havent seen it anywhere close to that since. So, it pays to do your homework.

Thank you for this tip! I will sign up and cross my fingers!!

Our trip is in October so I cannot wait too much longer!! We were originally going to drive, but I got a bonus at work so we are flying now. (thank goodness!!!) But the difference is price is killing me!

Hope you find a deal OP! I know it's hard when you have a price in mind and then it's more than what you're expecting. Our last 2 trips were over spring break and we paid under $500 r/t for 4 one year and under $600 the next time. Now we have an unexpected trip in January to quickly plan. I figured January would be slower than March and rates should be lower. Nope!
