any hope for 12/30-1/2?

Just heard from DH that he'd like to drive down for 3 days over the holidays--we'll be with his sister in NC for 2 days so we'll be 1/2 way there.
I have enough points for a 1 BR anywhere or a 2 BR at OKW, but the question is (when MS is closed of course) will there be any availablility at all? Opinions?

OR, as I think another option would be check-in 12/28 and check-out 12/31, and go to see SIL on the way home. Better idea?

Boy, I would think that would really be a tough one at such a late date. The only way to know for sure would be to call MS in the morning, but don't hold our breath. You could try going on the wait list.

I know it's a tough one. I can get the Dolphin for $129 teacher rate if we can't get DVC rooms.

Though it is not the best use of points, you might be able to book one of the Disney hotels on points if you don't want to spend cash. I know I would be willing to part with points to stay at AKL again; it is such a beautiful resort! Good luck in your planning!

We would have enough points for 3 nights at the Contemporary, and we've never stayed there--can't wait for MS to open and check it out!

12/31 is going to be the real problem night. You may not be able to get it right off the bat but you can ask to be waitlisted. This may still come through as people's plans change closer to the date.

UPDATE--I can get any type of room for those dates at the Contemporary, including the tower. I told the guy at MS that I wasn't going to ask about DVC resorts for that period and he said "oh yea, they're gone". Oh well! Nice to know that if I want to go I can still stay for "free"!
Now....do I go for 4 nights in the wings or 3 nights in the tower?

I always lean toward more nights. That's why I like the standard rooms at BWV so much. The other good thing about staying in the wings is that you can tell everyone that you are staying there to check out the new "Contemporary DVC" that will be built.
