Any holiday parties you look forward to?

Do you give/or go to a holiday party every year that you always look forward to? I love holiday parties with friends and family and would love some new ideas.

My favorite one is a Santa exchange that my friends and I have done for about 8 years now. We buy either a Santa or anything with Santa on it, and we draw numbers on who will pick the first gift, and then the next person can either "steal" the first persons gift or open a new one until the end.

I love that when I decorate I can remember each Santa and each party with my girlfriends.

Also, it is the only time of year that we make Poinsettas (a yummy champagne drink)!

So what is your favorite holiday party?

I used to have my family and friends for Christmas Eve, they are all in Ohio and I am in Alabama. I really miss that.

We always have a cookie exchange in the neighborhood, and another night we go caroling. This year we're combining them and have a cookie exchange/chili dinner/caroling party. I'm looking forward to it.
And I'd love the recipe for the poinsettia beverage!

Caroling sounds like a lot of fun, I do not remember the last time I saw carolers!

Here is the recipe, it is equal parts champagne and cranberry juice with 1/3 part triple sec. So it would be 1 c. champagne, 1 c. cranberry juice, and 1/3 c. triple sec.

Someone I used to teach with would throw a panty swap party every Christmas like the white elephant game complete with appetizer type snacks and different wines. I thought it was pretty fun, but now that she's gone, no one is brave enough to throw it themselves...
