Okay - if this is a daft question I am sorry. I am a bit embarrassed to phone up BT and ask them.

Anyway we have BT Total Broadband, with Option 1. We use a router, not a Home Hub and we just have our computer and phone line connected to it.

I want to know about connecting a second computer and both computers being connected to the internet at the same time. Is this possible?

The BT website says this is 'home networking' and is possible, either as 'wired' or 'wireless'. Because the 'wireless' way means a BT Homehub - that's ALL the website then talks about - bearing in mind they are really trying to sell this at the moment. There is no mention of what the 'wired' way to do this is. I don't really want to buy a Homehub. I want to do it with our current set up.

I hope this makes sense and that there is someone out there who can tell me if this is possible BEFORE we go and buy a laptop.:rotfl:

asked DH about this, he says:
you can have 2 working at the same time on the same connection.
to do it the wired way, you need to buy an ethernet hub, which will split the connection between 2 computers. or you can buy a wireless hub (ours cost about £30), and have either one or both computers working wirelessly. try and buy a wifi laptop if you want to do it the wireless way, or you can buy a seperate connector for your computer to make it wireless.
think the BT homehubs are just their make/model of a normal wireless hub. but hopefully someone can clarify this for sure (im with tiscali)
hope that helps (and didnt confuse you!)

We have Bt broadband - cheapest level and our own router - we run 2 computers and up to 3 laptops from it. I`m not a techie though!
DD`s Bf spent last winter flogging BT broadband to the brits from Prague - he say`s its the best (and means it!) Phone them, they are all ways great and the calls are cheap too!

Thank you for your help. Nice to know it is possible.

It's all because my son is hoping to buy himself a laptop from the money his Godmother has promised him if he gets good GCSE results on Thursday.

So it could all be for nothing if the grades are bad.
(I don't know whehter to :rotfl2: or  )
