Any Hawkeyes out there? (or Cyclones, Huskers)

Des Moines here, born and raised, love those Hawkeyes!!!!

:wave2: I'm in Des Moines, too. Lived here all my life (even went to college here-Drake University). It's cool to know there are so many DISers nearby.

Hey, NCombs, we go to the drive-in movie in Newton quite often. We LOVE it. It's one of our favorite family things to do over the summer.

DH works in Ames and is going to ISU right now for his MBA, so Cyclones rule in our house.

allegiant flies only to sanford thereby giving up your ME to fly allegiant for 200 pp...we went American thru Disney for 945 for 5 of us!! That was 189 pp directly to MCO!! The kids fly free deal, was that one kid per per adult? We always get ripped on that deal since we have three kids :rotfl:

You should. It's soooo fun! Kids 12 and under are free, and adults are $7 (I think). They always play two movies. We go about two hours early and let the kids play in the big field in front of the screen. There are always tons of families and the kids all become instant friends. :sunny:

I lived in Iowa from the age of 8 to 21 then spent 20 years in Omaha. I learned to love the Hawkeyes and still keep up with what's going on with them. I never learned to love the Huskers. I think maybe being a native Kansan and living through those pummelings of KU and K-State on the football field year after year after year....after year, lol. DH is from Nebraska and an avid Husker fan. Makes for an interesting football season in our house! ;) Oh, and even though I don't care for the Huskers, I did love Omaha and miss everything about it except the winter weather.

Wow Im suprised your marriage can LAST through football season! :rotfl2: Husker fans take their football SERIOUSLY! :cheer2: I bleed black and gold (went to Iowa) but I remember so many husker home games as a child and they were a blast! Everyone is so over the top when it comes to dressing and cheering and all!

We are near Ames so we have more ISU fans here, but as a grad of UNI I am still a Panther fan!

We are in Muscatine. We've been all over Iowa, though. Started in Jefferson, which is close to Ames, been in Grinnell, Iowa City, and now Muscatine. I do think that we have to call ourselves Cyclone fans. We didn't ever admit that in Iowa City, though. Going to the game on the 10th. DH is dragging me there :)

Never been to the drive-in in Newton. Sounds like a fun time.

Sounds like we need a DIS meet at the Newton drive-in! :sunny:

Go Big Red.....(hopefully this season)(heheheheh) Moved to Sioux Falls Sd 2 yrs ago, but grew up in Nebraksa!!! So still a Nebraskan at heart.......

I think my avatar says it all. ;) Grew up in Davenport, was in the Hawkeye Marching Band 1983-1987. We have 2 sets of neighbors on our street that are Iowa grads too. Lots of them here in Rochester, Minnesota.

My folks are Hawkeyes! Both graduated from U of I (along with nearly every other member of our family) and I visit them every summer on the shore of Clear Lake, where they fly their Herky Hawk flag most proudly!

I, too, would have been a Hawkeye if there had been dorm space in the fall of 1981.... I had to settle for being a Sun Devil instead!

Go Hawks!

:flower:

But here in Omaha. My only obsession year round is how I am going to get back to Disney.

I see you are from Central Iowa. Where are you from? We live in Knoxville.

Another Hawkeye here. I was born and raised in Iowa and my heart is still there. I was born in Grinnell, grew up in Iowa City, and then lived in the Quad Cities for a couple of years. I have sinced moved to another state but Iowa still feels like home to me.

We moved to Iowa three years ago and we currently live in Iowa City. Sorry, I'm still primarily a Bruins fan -- spent too many years there -- but hard not to root for the Hawkeyes too since DH and I both work for the university.

As Disney lovers with a baby, I was so happy last year when I discovered non-stop flights from Moline to Orlando on Airtran! Airtran's great fares are another bonus.

My husbands family is primarily in Indianola, but he has family in Ankeny and Iowa City as well. We don't get to visit as much as we would like since his parents migrated to Michigan after our oldest son was born. The one thing I wish Michigan had that I have to get to Iowa for is a pork tenderloin. Love those things!!

I just learned that Allegiant will start offering nonstop service out of CID to Sanford this December! http://www.allegiantair.com/pr/083105.htm I can't believe we will now have two nonstop airline options! Of course we prefer flying out of CID because it is a closer drive than MLI. That said, we have been very satisfied with Airtran's service/flights and we have earned lots of credits on its loyalty program. Also, Airtran is a large national carrier, whereas I'm not very comfortable with the idea of flying a small airliner like Allegiant. For those who have flown on Allegiant flights elsewhere, how have you liked your experiences?
