I want to get my hair gelled and pixie dusted with Mickey's on our next trip. Has anyone (especially adults) gotten their hair gelled at the Main St. Barber Shop?
Any pics?

I was thinking of letting my boys get their haircut there. Can they cut it with mickey on the back of the head or some similar silly thing?
what type price

and then what type price for just doing something to a girls hair..no cutting

My DS

All had gel and pixie dust, girls got a updo and then gel/dust. I did see a couple of adult guys get haircuts (they give a GREAT kids haircut) and one guy had a bouquet of roses painted on the back of his head with the gel (it was valentines day).

And some adult ladies there while we were there that I snapped!

$14 for the cut AND gel. No clue on gel/dust only but we saw girls (and big girls!) getting it done.

Before and after on the haircuts...and some actual cutting shots. this will be a must do on all future trips for us.

Evan the pixie dust has hidden mickeys..

DS8 would not go for the pixie dust but DS9 was in HEAVEN with all the attention he got for the rest of the day!

This was probably asked a thousand times but can you tell me how messy it is ? I don't mind being covered in pixie dust and colored gel but don't want to leave stuff on other people's clothes or the buses...

well...messy enough to smear if DS touched it or leaned against something. He did pretty well, only smeared it a little (so the BACK of the head mickey was a very good thing). I didn't see him shedding too much dust and was quite surprised at how well it seemed to wash away. We did make him shower before bed though!

I asked the barber last year when DS8 was getting a cut if they could buzz a Mickey head and they said no, not allowed.

They probably haven't figured out out to cut the copyright symbol in

Wow!! $14 for the cut and gel!!! I'm in... my son will love this. Do we need an appointment... can we make one... if so would there be any chance in getting one only 2 weeks out? If we did it early afternoon it would altleast give me a chance to get some pics before the transformation.

If you get one of those Mickey heads in gel, take my advise and blot it with some napkins after you leave the barber shop. Hubby had one and it was very very thick and gloppy. We blotted a bunch of gel off of it, leaving a nice clear Mickey still visible, but without so much messy goo in danger of dripping or smearing.

There are no appointments at the barbershop. The hours are 9-5 daily, and a line forms quickly. We always get there at 8:45 or so to be one of the first so we don't need to wait. Any gel that ever got on our stroller washed off easily. It is a tradition for us now to go once a trip!

It is not messy at all as long as you don't touch it until it's dry. It didn't take too long to dry (an hour?). My little one was in a stroller and we didn't get a spot of color on it. I was actually surprised that the confetti didn't shed too much either. My girls have long hair (and one is extremely thick), so I did wind up just getting into the shower with them to wash it out. I was able to wash it out fairly easy without getting it in their eyes, but I don't think a child could wash it out without help.

The color/confetti without a cut was $7.50 when we were there. Free with a cut.

No offense guys but that is just gross looking to me, almost like gum in the hair. I have a week stomach and I hope like hell I dont have to stand behind somone with that in their hair or I may puke on them! NO JOKE! I have a VERY sensitive stomach and just the pics on here was gagging me!

My pictures of DS with this are on the other computer - but our problem was that the gel NEVER dried! LOL. Seriously, everything he leaned his head on got the gel. It was disgusting. I had to wash his carseat off when we got home. Luckily we only lived 10 min from WDW so it wasn't such a horrible ordeal - we had gone to MK just for a haircut and he wanted the mickey head on the side when the barber mentioned it - so I said okay. But I was terrified that bright red gel wasn't going to come out of his Britax carseat LOLOL. Thankfully it did - but I think if it had had the time to dry it might not have come out - scary! I just wish it would dry quickly on the hair so it wouldn't rub off onto EVERYTHING haha
