Any guess when Cars land and Mermaid ride will be up and running?

We're planning a trip to DL in a few years. As of now, we're considering going Sept 2009. Any chance Cars land and the Little Mermaid ride will be built and running by then? Or are we better off pushing the trip back to Sept 2010? This will probably be our only trip ever to DL--at least while the kids are still young--and so we want to make sure and go when these two things are up and running.

Thanks!

From what I have read, Little Mermaid ride will start construction in early 2009 and may be done by 2011. Carsland will not be ready until 2012 at the earliest.

Oh no!! I figured they'd be done much sooner than that. Not sure what will do now--my 4 year son has been talking non-stop about getting to visit Car land--but if we wait until it's for sure open he'll be 9 or 10!! I don't think I want to wait that long.

Maybe we'll just have to plan on two trips to DL.......;)

Thanks for your response!!

Is this the same Mermaid ride they showed on the Platinum Edition dvd? Also, my son will freak out when they build that Cars land. Too bad its 3-4 years away. :sad1:

Not sure. The version on the DVD had suspended vehicles that would go both above and below the "water" line.

The concept art (one piece) that was released for the DCA version showed vehicles like the Haunted Mansion and Nemo at Epcot. The scene that was shown in the art was the "Kiss the Girl" scene and the vehicles did not appear to go both above and below the water.

Of course, that was just one concept drawing, so maybe it wasn't entirely indicitive of what the actual ride will do.
