Any guess on new promotion after Feb 1?

I'm really, really serious about buying DVC before May. Unfortunately, I can't get together the financing to take advantage of the F&F referral. In the past, I've seen Disney offer a free week vacation as an incentive. Are these sort of promotions offered on a regular basis?

Also, in an unrelated question, are there closing costs involved with buying direct from Disney?

Thanks!

I don't know what the promotion will be. My guide (who I spoke with last night) suspected it would be an $8 per point discount.

There are no closing costs that have to be paid by you when buying direct from Disney.

Have you checked into Disney's financing? The rates are a little high, but they get it done fast. We bought that way and then refinanced with a home equity loan.

If you know you have money coming in, you might even want to think about one of those checks the credit card companies send with a low rate. if you have enough open credit, you could put the whole thing on that and then pay it off.

So, does financing and everything have to be final by Feb. 1, or can I make a deposit to get the promotion and sort of lock-in to this great deal?

I was thinking about this earlier this week. I was wondering if they would go back to the $8 incentive and maybe do something with the dining plan...

Juliet25: In regards to the 15% discount, I think as long as you pay the deposit and get the contract going you'll be fine. I doesn't take long to get all of that stuff done when going direct. You can also put the deposit on a credit card, which can help extend it out a little too. Regardless, if you decided to purchase today, they still wouldn't get everything "finalized" and officially closed until around March.

We called earlier this week and put down our $500 deposit. We won't be signing our papers etc. until after we arrive Feb 2. Our guide said as long as the deposit was in and they had the referral details all is good on the discount.

Juliet25,
We signed in December. We put 50% down and are paying the rest over one year. I used my disney credit card for the down payment in order to get those reward points. Our finance rate for the remainer was 4.9% and our first payment will not be due until March. This might help knowing payments do not start right away. Also there is no penalty for paying off early.

Yes, you do not pay closing cost. There are closing costs but, when you buy through Disney - Disney pays all the closing costs.

If you can't get financing till May maybe you could still do it now. That Disney credit card is offering 0% for I think 6 months and since there is no prepayment penalty, you should be able to pay it off with another loan if you wish.

I know it says that on the DVC site but not sure if its only if you get a new Disney Visa card, it is not very clear. I looked on my Disney Visa card on current deals and couldn't find it. I did send a email off to them but they are as slow as can be answering. I did just put the add on deposit on it anyway and will see when the bill comes what is says. They are also always sending checks in the bill for 0% for 6 months or 3.99% for life of loan with transfer fee of 50(finance charge). So I can go that way too. Carol :earsboy:

It is not for a new Disney Visa. We did this when we signed in late October. Of course we paid it off the next month so we didn't need the 6 month 0% but it was there.

I thought I read somewhere that the special Disney Visa rate was up to $2500 of the price. You might want to check their website to see if it is still available and the terms.

I think this promotion is over - it was listed as "expires 12/31/05" and I haven't seen a new one listed. It was only for the lesser of 10% or $2500 on the downpayment through Disney.

Thats what I saw on the DVC site too. and then I checked the Visa site and saw no offer and zipped them off a email question...I will let you all know if I ever hear back. Oh Oh I put the 2500 down more than 10% wanting the Disney dollars. I'll pay it off if the 0% doesn't show up. :earsgirl:
