DD has a second round scholarship interview. The program will provide full tuition at a number of schools but she has to rank her choices. She is trying to determine the order if her top 3. She is thinking of majoring in bio biochem or chem engineering. Haven't visited the campuses yet and looking for input.

Are you talking about Lafayette, LA? My daughter is graduating in December from LSU in chemical engineering. I HIGHLY recommend that choice. She has already signed her offer from an oil company for a full time job!!!! Yeahhhh.
Good Luck.

I have not graduated from any of those 3, but I know people that graduated from Bucknell. My young son has taken a few classes at Lafayette(children's classes he is 10)

Of those 2 I would put Bucknell on top. Don't know anything about sewanee.

Congratulations and good luck to her!

DH and I graduated from Bucknell.. not sure what you want to know? It is a small school on a beautiful campus in a somewhat rural area. Not much to do off campus. Pretty active Greek system. Student body is not very diverse. DH studied electrical engineering and got a job right out of college.. but of course that was 20 years ago. It looks like it is also the most $$ of the three.

My parents met and graduated from Bucknell. My dad went on to have a highly successful career in management with GE and eventually a start-up company. My mom got her degree in biology and worked until she had us kids. They really enjoyed their time there.

I am not sure about the BioChem program, but having grown up in PA I believe Bucknell has the best reputation of the three.

Thanks! Any thoughts on student life for the three? Cost is not the issue as this program will fund all tuition and fees if selected. Diversity not a big issue, she would arrive in a group of 10 and the group will be diverse.

Is this Possee? If so, that is a terrific program.

Sewanee is pretty well isolated.

Are you aware of the Parents Forum on College Confidential? If no, you might want to register there and post this same question. Lots of really experienced parents with a ton of knowledge.

yes, it is posse, which is an awesome program. thanks for the heads up on the parents board, I will check there. If she gets to the third round her choices are binding, and we are trying to make sure she gets her choices ranked the way she wants. If she moves to the next level we will take some road trips.
