Hey everyone at the end of this month me and my 5yr old son will be going to walt disney for the first time!!! We are soooo excited!!!! Does anyone have any tips for a single parent on their first disney adventure??? We will be staying on the property and will be going for a week. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!!!

wow!! im so excited for you!
ok, lots of tips.
1. crocs!!
2. misters and fans are a LIFESAVER
3. dont do the "dumbo or die" approach. just stop and smell the dole whips.
4. when you kid is done for the day, hes done. dont push disney too hard. the crowds and heat can sometimes be a little too much.
5. a mickey bar and a hug solves lifes hardest problems
6. HAVE FUN!

A countdown chart or activity of some kind is always fun. We usually do a caterpillar. I copy Disney character clipart into Word and cut strips of paper, one character per strip. Then I write the number til our trip, counting down to 0. We link the strips together to make a chain (or caterpiller) and each day my kids take turns removing one link. They have fun seeing which character they get and how many more days til we leave. The fact that the caterpillar gets shorter and shorter really helps them anticipate the trip. You could do the same thing with construction paper strips and stickers.

It sounds simple enough, but having a really good packing list is essential so you aren't stresed about what to bring. I have a GREAT one, if you 'd like me to email it to you. At the least, make a list of the things you want to take to the park each day so you can refer to it before rushing out in the morning. You might include things like tickets, reservation numbers, photopass card, camera, sunglasses, autograph book (see below), bandaids, rain ponchos, tissues, hand sanitizer, sun hats, sweaters for evening, etc. It sounds like a lot, but it easily fits in one backpack that you can put on to go on rides.

It is always fun to do one type of "collection" at DW. Our kids do both autographs and pressed pennies. Many do pins. They are always a fun momento when you get home and can look them over.

Are you planning on doing a character meal? My kids (3 and 5) always look forward to these. Our favorite is Chef Mickeys.

You are going to have a FABULOUS time! Take lots of pictures!

Check out Tour Guide Mike. He's awesome. Crowds can make or break a trip for us, so he will help with tat.

Hello!
I to am a single parent. We have been to Disney , the biggest
thing is take time out during the day to relax !! A cranky kid
makes for a long miserable day at the parks. I would also rent
a stroller at the parks..thats ALOT of walking for a kid!!!

I hope you guys have a great trip..if you want to PM me
I will try and help you out the best I can!!!

My dad passed away, so my mom was also a single parent. Just enjoy your time together. I remember the tiniest details from our trip (I fell asleep with my swimsuit on after eating delivered pizza the day we went to then-MGM). Now I'm taking her (and my grandparents, DNiece and DS). Your son will love it no matter what you get to do (or not do). Have a blast!!
