that is what i am making tonight...I found a good leek and mushroom soup recipie on cooking light that i want to try.

I love that web site www.cookinglight.com I always find good stuff there!

My MIL bakes it in the oven with a can of tomato soup, sliced onion, & oregano. I do it in the crock pot instead and serve it over rice. It is pretty tasty.

Watching this thread with interest. I always see round steak in the store and never buy it because I don't know what to do with it. I think I bought it once and found it to be very tough, so obviously it is a slow-cooking type meat.

We do four things with round steak.
~ You can use it in a beef soup, just add Soup Starters (Wylers or Mrs Grass) and then salt and pepper to taste.

~ Make sandwiches. Cut and tenderize the meat, then brown it. We also grill onions and then I cover my sandwich with steak sauce.

~ "Swiss Steak" of sorts. Flour it, brown it with onions, then add beef broth (I just use the bullions) along with some Mrs Dash and thyme. Simmer for a couple hours and serve with mashed potatoes.

~ "Oriental" round steak. Cut in strips and flour then brown. Add soy sauce, salt and pepper, and then add a can of ... gosh can't remember... I think it is chop suey stuff, but I can not be sure. I know it by look not name, sorry.

My Mom always made round steak....it was my brother's favorite meal....she would flour & brown it....then put it in a covered baking dish (350 for about 3 hours) with a few cans of cream of mushroom soup & a little bit of water....serve it with mashed potatoes.

This is the recipe I use: Round Steak with Rich Gravy

Cut the round steak into serving size pieces and place in crock pot with 1 envelope of onion soup mix and 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup. I always add about 1/4 cup of water also. Cook on low until tender.

I serve it with mashed potatoes and a veggie.
