Which quality golf courses would you recommend in Orlando or neighbouring areas?

Two years ago we played Falcons Fire, Deer Island, Kissimmee Bay.

Peter

Please give me more info
. . . your golf handicap
. . . desire for medium, tough, impossible courses
. . . desire for famous or PGA-quality courses
. . . driving time/distance allowable from Orlando

Thanks Rusty

.. Handicap 12
.. Prefer tough or impossible as long as memorable experience
.. Driving time within one and a half hours max from Kissimmee

Peter

1) I am an 11-handicap, so we play about the same.
2) In my case, I need to scramble to make the 11.
3) When I play, I like a nice test of golf.
4) Make me use all my clubs and play course management.
5) Don't like paying big-bucks for a "grip-it-and-rip-it course".

5) My personal recommendations are:
. . . Bay Hill (Palmer)
. . . Orange Lake CC - Legends (Palmer)
. . . Grand Cypress at Hyatt Regency (Nicklaus)
. . . Golden Bear (Nicklaus) *

* I think Golden Bear is a good track, but could use a year or two of seasoning, since it only openned in 1999. Kind of bare or sparse here-and-there, but tough holes.

DH stayed at Bay Hill and played there-absolutely loved it! The problem he found was that when we went to WDW, and he wanted to play there, they told him that you had to be staying at their resort in order to play! Please let us know if that policy has changed-he'd love to play there again. We've even discussed flying to Orlando together, then staying at different places, just so he can play Bay Hill again.

Pedro,

Have you played the Disney courses yet? Osprey Ridge and Eagle Trace are terrific courses. I'm an 18 handicap and really enjoyed both courses.

One of the nicest places I have ever played. I have played alot the great Myrtle Beach courses and in my opinion you cannot beat the 36 holes at OCN. . We also played Disney Palm and Magnolia and they were very good but out group felt OCN was better. We will play them again in March and Disney's Osprey and Eagle and Falcon's Fire. Web site is www.ocn.com

1) WDW is an equal opporunity money-taker
2) WDW has raised money-taking to an art-form.
3) They will take anybody's money. (LOL)
4) YOU DO TO HAVE TO STAY AT WDW TO PLAY GOLF.

5) There are only slight differences for on-site vs off-site
. . . on-site can make tee times at 90-days, off-site 30-days
. . . the golf fees are less for on-site guests
. . . there is free taxis from the resort to the golf course

I've played WDW golf and must agree with TheRustyScupper...we had fun but our wallets were MUCH LIGHTER!!!! :p

Bay Hill was awesome...exceed our expectations and I am a high handicapper (26).

You misunderstood my post-I meant that although DH loved Bay Hill, he was told that he could only go over there to play if he was also staying at Bay Hill, and since he was staying at WDW, not Bay Hill, he couldn't just go over there (Bay Hill) to play. This is the policy I was wondering about-playing Bay Hill when you're not staying there.

A few of you mentioned the Disney courses which I have never played. Keith Prowse are offering May-Sept green fees for $75.

a) Is this good value, could I expect to get cheaper with coupons etc locally?

b) How do you compare and rate the different Disney courses?
