Any frequent Virgin members out there

I'm aware of what Flying Club is, being a Gold member for a few years now!! Check this link scroll down and you will see the Virgin Holidays discount listed. It is stated as "up to 10%" but I have never heard of anybody not getting 10%, as with the FVC. As Virgin own both VA and VH (surprisingly!) this is obviously an initiative to get more bookings through VH, rather than flight-only bookings through VA.

I beg your pardon. I probably never noticed the discount as I get it with Frequent Virgins, as it was nothing additional I probably didn't pay it much attention.

You may know what Flying Club is, but some people are confused about the difference between Virgin's two clubs. I was actually trying to be helpful not patronising. :rolleyes:

I'm sorry but I don't see anybody confused between the two different clubs. I was simply correcting your original incorrect statement to Jan which stated she needed to have been on three Virgin Holidays to join the Flying Club. :rolleyes:

I was talking about Frequent Virgins when I said you needed to have been on 3 trips. I had missed a couple of posts and did not realise it was Flying Club that was being discussed. The first post in the thread was about FVC and I had missed the flow of the thread changing.

anyway... now that is sorted out :love2: ...

you can book online with Virgin holidays and get the 10% discount. There is a specific place to type in your FVC membership number and they then send an amended invoice a few days later which includes the 10% discount (i.e if online it was only 5% originally) together with the car upgrade and a note regading any FVC extras the hotel may offer.

People defintley Do get confused between the two Virgin 'clubs' as I've replied to a couple of threads in the past where posters clearly have the two confused! :cool1:

BTW-would anyone like me to reccomend them to join the Virgin flying club?! ;)

I know what you mean, I joined Virgin mobile and am still wait for my car to arrive! :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2:
 
When I spoke to the FVC one year they pointed out that their discount applies to anything you purchase from them -tickets car insurance etc. The online discount only applies to the holiday cost

I presume that was in the UK - where it is a mobile phone. Now, if it was Virgin Mobile USA then you'd be waiting for your CELL to turn up.

Wow, what a lot of replies to what I thought was a straight forward question. Now I don't feel so stupid for not quite grasping the FFC versus FV. Thanks for all your replies

Can I add my experiences as both Virgin Holiday's Frequent Virgin Club members (of many years) and Virgin Atlantic's Frequent Flying Club Silver members (can't quite make gold, keep spending the points ;) ).

If you have booked or are booking your THIRD holiday with Virgin Holidays, you can apply to become a Frequent Virgin. This entitles you to 10% off the whole cost of your holiday - everything excluding any travel insurance taken out with VH is 10% off (including park tickets, excursions, car hire extra upgrades, car insurance etc). This can amount to a reasonable saving, we have certainly found this.

You get 10% off your booking - regardless of how many people on the booking form are Frequent Virgin members. As long as the lead name is a member, the whole cost is reduced by 10%.

We have booked our latest trip with VH for next Easter skiing at Lake Tahoe - three of us (all FVCs and FFC) and our four friends, all on our booking form, 10% off the lot, adults and children alike.

I have never used my Virgin Atlantic Frequent Flying Club for discount with Virgin Holidays, but I have been told on two separate occasions by Virgin Hols that you get 10% off if you are a Frequent Flyer.

You DO also get your FVC discount with Virgin Hols if you book online. It doesn't happen immediately (and admitedly I had to chase them for our ski trip booking discount), but by booking online you do get the discount; there is the option to put your FVC membership number when booking online. Mine has just come through and it amounts to £500, so not worth sneezing at :)

They refused to allow a discount for my sons friend who was travelling with us, and indeed we were paying for, because he wasn't a Frequent Virgin, so don't count on it.
 
Thats odd Jill. I;m sure it states somewhere on the FVH web pages, as long as you all book together you all get the discount.
 
Hi! We are frequent virgins and we have just booked a holiday with 4 family members who are not frequent virgins and we still got the 10% discount! the catch is it all has to be on the same booking though!

I then decided to email Virgin who told me it would cost me £333.00 inc. admin fees!
i do see your point however that is not specific to Virgin, most companys charge for moving your holiday, especially if the date then falls into a different price range - i know people who have had this experience with TCD and British Airways and we had the same problem with Thomas Cook, but when we complained they waived this fee!
