Any French Quarter Refurb news?

We’re checking in on the 29th this month for a couple of nights before a Fantasy cruise. I like the idea of low numbers at the resort. Not that it ever feels crowded there. More beignets for me!

My family member requested a room in building 4 via TP’s room request service for a trip the end of this month. She got a call from the resort a few days later. The CM told her that building 4 would be under construction at the time of her trip & asked if she had a different request instead. Hopefully that means buildings 1 & 2 might be opening soon.

Quoting myself… family member arrived this morning. Got the room ready text early this morning. Their room is in building 4, the same building requested & the one they were told would be closed for renovations. So either the renos are behind or they changed the order they are working on the buildings.

I'm curious if buildings 1,2 and 3 are all closed right now. If so, then FQ is at half capacity?

I'm friends with one of the chefs and he says they're sitting around 35% occupancy and while he's not complaining about it he did say they are bored at times in the kitchen he has no idea what's holding up the reno .

Wow. We arrive tomorrow and this sounds weird. A Disney resort that’s not crowded. . Can’t wait to see how this is!

I have a trip 8/17-8/31, also requested building 4 through TP and haven’t heard anything. I’ll report back on check in day.

Checked in just now, got our building 4 request.

We have stayed there many times. Never has seemed crowded to us. Planning a trip next spring. Are very interested in how the room refurbishments will be done.

Went for a walk around French Quarter last night. Most of the area where they are doing refurbishing had plastic sheeting over the windows. There are signs saying no photography or video unless authorized. . There were a few rooms that I could see some of the room, but the only thing I could see was a couple mirrors on the wall.

The resort is wonderful as always, but it doesn’t feel empty by any means. It was a Saturday. We will see what the rest of the week brings!

Do we think buildings 1, 2 & 3 are out of commission? We have a standard booked which would theoretically put us in either 4 or 7 but I assume with 3 buildings not in use they might just put people in any room category? We still have just over 2 weeks so a lot could change I suppose.

Building 2 started just over 1 month ago. We were in 3. Our Garden View was of Bldg 1 construction. It seemed like 1 was still in the final demo stage then. Definitely moving along slowly but low crowds were nice.

We are planning a visit to POFQ next spring and I am so excited to see the new rooms. This whole refurb has been so mysterious. It wasn't announced very far ahead and no news for months. Buildings keep closing and others not opening and now a sign for no photography! I hope somebody can get more info soon.

Only buildings 1 and 2 are closed at this time. The notice concerning no photography is to discourage everyone now carrying a Smartphone from posting online for clicks and likes...

I am personally voting that it will be a Tiana re-theming of the rooms and some added resort touches much like they did at the Polynesian with a Moana theme.

Any peek inside building 1? I’m curious if they are sticking with 2 queen beds or moving to 1 pull down queen bed.

POFQ group on FB said building 1 still closed, plastic gone, but still closed, buildings 2 and 3 closed -2 has plastic over windows and 3 is closed but doesn't look like work started. Target completion is still mid December. this was posted about 2 hours ago by someone at FQ, take it fwiw

Is that target completion for all buildings or just the ones they currently to have closed off?

Thanks. I had read somewhere that the website read “some guest rooms will be under refurbishment” which could mean they aren’t going to do all of them, like what they did with CBR. I mean they started in May and still don’t have any new rooms open. Of course no one knows for sure, guess we will see!
