Any flexibility at BOG lunch with modifying a dish?

I have a 16 year old that is less picky than he used to be but still leans towards plain things without condiments or sauces. This thread brought back memories of the time he was around 8 years old and we were having dinner at Ohanas. I was telling him he had to try something and he did. Then he gagged and threw up all over his plate. It was so embarrassing for him and us. LOL. I backed off from having him try things on that trip and pretty much moved the battleground to home after that.

Mine does the same. I'm always amazed at how much we've tried to get him to eat different foods and how badly we have struck out. He has been horribly picky since he was a tiny baby- we had a trip to Europe when he was 10 months old where I thought he would starve because he refused to eat the Belgian baby cereal!

We've done the Tiny Tastes thing with red pepper and melon and those went okay, but he tried mac and cheese multiple times and hated it, and has totally done the same gagging/throwing up thing with foods we have literally paid him to try.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I wonder if they would hate us if we brought in a little meal from Pinocchio's? I wouldn't even consider it if it weren't a CS location at lunch, but maybe I could do that.

I wa going to suggest that also. We actually did bing in a meal from another counter service location once when he was little.

I have kids (and a husband) who are super picky and I just let them not eat if there isn't something that they want. I've got the kids who eat black olives and buttered rolls for Thanksgiving dinner, and the husband who will order a salad (lettuce only, dressing on the side) instead of a meal at times.

Maybe your son would be happy with fries and a drink, or a cupcake and then eating something else either before or after?

This sounds a lot like what I happens in our family. My son never eats at parties. He is just to excited. My daughter well she eats olives and pickles at parties.

Brings back memories!! When my DS was a year and a half we went on a long trip to Asia. He decided he hated the taste of the milk there (these were the days when milk was his main food and he drank 5+ cups a day). We tried multiple brands. He ended up surviving on doritoes, gatorade, and some cheerios for about a solid week before he finally started eating other solid food for the next 2 weeks of the trip. No milk there at all though.
