Any Fantasmic updates?

I've seen Fantasmic with the dragon as a projection, so they can do a version of the show with the dragon that is not a physical fire-breathing thing.
But that begs the question then why is it taking 8+ more months when they could do that in weeks.

They could be updating the show to have more "modern" music but that really isn't what fans want. Everyone just wants the same show (ok maybe change the boat back to Peter Pan) but mainly people just want the same show with a Dragon

Adding Frozen segment really doesn't add much to the show, at least in my eyes unless they add something draw dropping but.....unless they drain the Rivers of America I doubt that much work is being done besides just replacing segments with new songs

OK, here’s comes the whining…

i have seen the “B” mode version of dragon projected on screens and frankly, it didn’t bother me at all. Yes, Murph was jaw-dropping, breathtaking and awesome but I would much rather HAVE A SHOW with projections than nothing at all.

Yes, kinda nice for summer crowds to walk around the river and enjoy the cool shade. But come fall and winter, would be nice to see the show again with all the characters on the floats and everyone on the steamboat. Even though you didn’t get to interact with them per se, it was great to see all those characters.

The parade didn’t have that many characters and I miss Captain Jack’s segment on the ship.

WOC just doesn’t do it for me. I hope they keep RTM going so there will be some form of live entertainment. I thought the Tales Of the Lion King was pretty lame, especially when compared to the one atAnimal Kingdom.

For a city bursting with acting talent, Disney sure doesn’t seem to want to take advantage of it anymore.

I agree the show is great

I think most fans don't like it's taking them a year to basically bring back B mode

As you talked about with the lack of premium entertainment, I think it's about cutting budgets. Lion King used to be just a show in DCA where they do WOC and it was just a show you stood there and watched, they moved it to the theaters because similar to Rogers the Musical.
They want to use the space, but not put the same money they used to into the productions. Both Rogers and Tales of the Lion King are better then nothing but would be nice to see them put more money into the parks, considering how profitable they are but because Disney as a whole isn't doing so hot thanks to Disney Plus devaluing their films and hurting brands like the MCU more then help. We sadly I think have to wait years before we get better entertainment at the parks

Except we don't actually know what the show will look like when it comes back. Will it be a dif type of dragon? Projections? Puppets? Drones? They haven't said anything.

They said the Dragon is not coming back (so no puppet)

They could also....you know share art of what they are doing. We saw Carsland years before they made it, this is 8 months away

Throw up some art of what your planning but my guess is, it won't be anywhere near as exciting as the dragon so they wont show anything until it happens and hope people just don't care.

To me that just says that the specific figure won't come back. Not that there won't be a dragon at all. I guess I just prefer to be positive.

I am positive when they give good news but this news to me reaks of Disney being cheap.

I hope.....hope I'm wrong but it took them two+ months to have a soft replacement for Fantasmic and while the band is great....it's cheap. They could have done something bigger but Disney right now is just not investing enough into the parks as they make hand over fist money in the parks

The band's 3 performances nightly is hardly a replacement for F!. I agree it is very cheap.

First question. How much is Disneyland now going to charge us to have the right to sit down and see F! when it finally returns? They were already sticking it to us by making us purchase way-over-priced dining packages if we wanted to have what we used to always have: access to a place to sit for the show. But just like Disney always does, they take something that used to be free and bleed you dry for it (Genie+). And stupid me comes along and says, "Please sir, can I have some more."

Second question. Is there ANY way to get real seating for this show? I know that WDW has it made with their amazing arena and great viewing for thousands of people. That alone makes me long for some FL heat just to see the show in that manner. But my beef with DL has always been that you never really have a great view, even if it's superior to its WDW sister show. What good is a better show if you can't see it? If you're shoved off to the side behind a tree and 500 other guests vying for a few crumbs from the Imagineer's table.

Did we every find out how much damage the fire did?

If electrical components for the stage were damaged this timeline isn’t unusual. Getting certain electrical components is still difficult and still backordered. Even throwing money at the problem doesn’t work when their suppliers are backordered.

It’s possible they had another replacement other than the band in the works but then the writers strike happened. Playwrights aren’t part of WGA but most writers are working a couple gigs and Disney is a struck company.

They had this show at Princess nights and while it's not Fantasmic, I think would draw more crowds then the band

The Band is cool but feels like more a preshow for the firework/fantasmic, like a cute show for those waitng at the rivers of America.

Also even if the dragon was done, They have B mode. They could have closed the island down and had something ready by now but Disney is cutting cost, so they aren't rushing out to do anything right now.
