Any experience with Bronchitis? I have a question (wee update pg. 2)

Just wanted to thank you guys for encouraging me to go to the doctor. Well, I was diagnosed with 2 things...

Bronchitis and Pneumonia! Ugh. You guys were right.

Anyway, I am on some strong anti-biotics now. It was another nightmare wait at the doctor's office but at least its overwith and now I am being treated.

Aidensmom, you sound just like my DH with the pain in his back and the green phlegm balls.

Simba's Mom, many older people have COPD from years of smoking which predisposes them to bronchitis. Colds take longer to go away, and often they wind up needing antibiotics for bronchitis or pneumonia.

Oh...rest...that is a 4 letter word...that does not mean doing the laundry...grocery shopping...cleaning...washing the car....shoveling the driveway...do I need to explain further? REST!

Good morning everyone.

I have had this horrible cough for about three weeks, and based on the symptoms I have been looking up, I am 99% sure that I have bronchitis.

What I can't seem to find out is, is this something that will just run its course and eventually go away, like a cold; or is it something that absolutely requires an antibiotic to get rid of?

I ask because my doctor's office is a nightmare - it is always an hours-long ordeal in a cramped waiting room, as bad as going to the emergency room actually - and so I really, really do not want to go if it is not necessary.

Any advice about this irritating condition would be appreciated!

I started with a cough just after Christmas Day, and I was like you, didn't wanted to go to the doctor, then I got worse, the cough was horrible, the headache, the last thing i was thinking was Bronchitis, i got a horrible fever also then finally went to the Doctor, and it was bronchitis, they put me antibiotic and they were so strong, it was only 5 pills for 5 days, and a Robitussin (sp?) with codin (sp?) , new years day i was in bed dying, the cough was the most horrible thing ever. Now I am OK, still cough a little bit, but not that nasty ugly cough!
