We are a family of 6 (plus taking my parents), so we're lookng at renting a 5 (or more) bedroom home in the Kissimee area. Anyone have suggestions/experience w/ renting a house (like those timeshare)? I see alot of deals for some with private pools, but was hoping for personal experience from someone on this board. Anyone?

Hi,
Welcome to the DISboards!

We have not rented a house in the Orlando area in more than 10 years so I really don't feel I can give you a good up-to-date opinion. I would suggest that you post your question over on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions forum. Just scroll down to the Forum Jump at the bottom of the page and re-post your question there. I'm sure you'll get some responses. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of threads open on private home rentals on the forum right now.

Hope this helps.

I rented a 3 bedroom house about 4 years ago. It was a very nice house with it's own pool. My only suggestions to you is to try and get a house that is in a "resort" type development. Meaning, when we rented, our house was in a development that had a lot of local people who lived there. For me, I like the feel of vacationing with mostly others who are vacationing as well. I asked a question before about finding a vacation home that's located within a resort like development. (I asked this on another forum - something like orlando area hotels and attractions?) I can't remember the recommendations, though. With our house, I was just concerned that all the locals knew that we were on vacation (sort of like they were watching our house) That's just me, though. You might feel differently.

I rented a condo from magicalmemories.com several years ago. They also have homes with pools. The prices are very reasonable and the condo was nice. Their website has pictures of the different homes & condos. Magical Memories is just a rental place, not timeshare. I would go with Magical Memories again if I hadn't already spoiled myself by staying onsite at Universal. :D
