Any Electric Umbrella Fans/Critics Out There?

For the past couple of trips, our youngest daughter has wanted to eat lunch at Electric Umbrella. I think she read something in one of the travel books that appealed to her.
But, being a Disboards freak, I read mostly negative things about the place, so we've never gone.
This August, though, we're determined to go! There's a day when we're eating lunch at Epcot and since we've gone to Seasons a couple of times already, I figure how bad could Umbrella really be? The menu for lunch -- http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_eul.htm -- actually looks pretty good.
Any experiences, good or bad, would be appreciated. Thanks!

It is really good for your basic hamburger meals. They have a "fixins bar" I Always get the fries w/cheese sauce - but have recently heard that the "chicken fingers" totally rock.:thumbsup2

The Electric Umbrella is my families favorite counter service location in Epcot, so we think it's a great location to eat at. They are also one of the few counter service locations in the parks where you get the drinks yourself, so it's great if you want refills because you don't need to purchase another one.

I ate there for the first time in Dec while we were there for Christmas and I thought it was a good place to eat. You already know it has just standard cheeseburgers and fries and stuff. So as long as you know whats there and there is something you want I think its a great place to eat. So much so that we ate there a couple times for just a quick lunch or snack later on at night when we ate early in the afternoon. hth

The drink refills alone will mean we will definitely be going! I know that is so sad but I love my soda (yes I am guilty of almost always getting the Double Gulp at 7-11)!

Lunch is your standard counter service burgers, chicken strips, etc. Not bad.
However when we tried their breakfast offerings we were less than impressed. I had a bagel sandwich that I almost chipped a tooth on - no kidding.
I love the idea that there is a counter service with serve yourself fountain drinks now though. It's about time...

We've eaten there 3 times, and I think that overall, it's about the worst food in Epcot. We keep going there because it's convenient, but the food stinks.

DF's favorite in Epcot - he's big on burgers.
I've always thought the food was fine.... and we've eaten there a LOT.

I think it gets knocked so much just because there are soooo many options of "different" food. I find nothing wrong with EU. I like the other stuff but DF is a creature of habit and likes what he likes. It's just your standard park food and tastes like all the other Disney burgers, fries, chicken strips, salads...

Oh, but reallllly try to not have to sit outside when it's raining. The rain definitely comes through the "umbrella"!

Good for you for indulging your DD!

Oh and that menu - I can't wait to try the wrap. It used to be this odd turkey thing and I love turkey but could never bring myself to order that.

I like the Electric Umbrella. We've been for breakfast a few times and just for drinks, not had lunch there yet but I would.

I think that the fixin's bar is gone. I didn't see it in April.

Does anyone know if that's true -- about the "fixins" bar being gone? Seems like that's one of the big draws.

If it's true that it's gone why would they take it away? Don't counter service locations like the Electric Umbrella need them? Anyway it will be interesting to see if it's still there when my family and I eat there in August.

Sorry to hear about the fixins bar! :sad2:

On our July 2006 trip, this was DS15's favorite place that we ate. I have been planning for our November trip and asked everyone where they want to eat. DD wants to eat at CRT, DS10 wants to eat at Teppan Edo and DS15 wants to eat at the Electric Umbrella! Give the kid a burger and he is happy.
He said their burgers are the best.

I was going to post that we like Electric Umbrella - especially since it has the fixins bar...but if that's gone then I'm a little more iffy. :sad2: It's certainly convenient though.

Nobody ever asks this, but I like to tell it. I have eaten almost every single breakfast WDW has to offer - restaurants and fast food alike. Electric Umbrella has THE WORST breakfast on Disney property.

But if you want a burger at lunch, it's fine. It's your typical fast-food burger. Nothing to write home about, nothing scary.

It is also close to MouseGear, so if you stuff yourself and don't feel like riding anything you can browse and shop. :)

We go to Electric Umbrella each time we visit WDW. I love the free refills and the burgers are one of the best on property. Its a shame the fixins bar has gone but the double burgers are huge. We have been on DDP the past few times and have shared a double burger meal for lunch and we have both been quite happy with this.

Another plus is we have never had to hunt for seats. There always seems to be room to sit down without waiting.

Woo Hoo!:thumbsup2 Shopping at MouseGear :cool1:
oh yes, electric umbrella, gives me something to do when dw and dd go into mousegear. i call it the saly shop (same as last year) they still come out carring resort delv. slips. burgers are good, i miss the cheese on the fixin bar, now the fixin bar is gone!(ill have to run over to edys now and hope i dont get any on my shirt.) reminds me of the star. in future at mk.
