Just wondered if anybody went to any Braves games at WDW this month. I would like to go sometime and take our folks. My Dad loves baseball and the Braves and now with the flexibility of DVC we can manage getting the room we need for all of us. Is there typically a lot of people at those games and would you suggest buying tickets ahead of time. I guess im concerned about rainouts but still dont want to take a chance of going all that way and not see at least 1 game. Any feedback would be great!!

We stayed at VB for three days and saw the Orioles in Ft Lauderdale. Awesome - spring training is great!

We have been to several Braves games at the sports complex...we have bought tickets ahead of time and bought them on game day too.
It is great fun for everyone and I highly reccommend it.

Isn't there some discount or other for the games? I have DVC, DC and AP. Does anyone know which gives the discount, if it does indeed exist?

We've gone to a Braves / Cardinals (yea birds) game the past three years and they have always looked sold out except for maybe the lawn seating.

Well, we haven't been to any games YET. My DH is SO excited that we've bought DVC so he's already planning for a trip next March! We had talked about flying down this year for spring training (this was even before we bought DVC). But when I checked on the tickets at the end of Jan./beg. of Feb. there were no regular tix left. All that was available were lawn seats. We decided that it wasn't worth flying down for just to sit in the lawn.

But, now since we've purchased BCV we are planning ahead for next year and I'm planning on purchasing the tix he wants just as soon as I possibly can. Not sure when that will be so I'll just keep checking the websites as often as possible (probably won't be onsale until the very beginning of next year though).

My DH is a HUGE NYY fan so he really wants to go for the Yankees training in Tampa. But since we have BCV in Orlando he'll settle for a few Braves games then we'll drive over to Tampa for a few games during the week too. But he likes the Braves too... well, I think for him "baseball is baseball!" anyways. He would like to see any of the games during spring training! He's not picky!!

But, to make a long answer short, be sure to check EARLY to buy your tickets.

I was surprised to read this. We went the second week of March, and bought tickets on the day. I had thought about buying in advance, but I could see on the web site that there were tickets left, and I also worry about weather and plans changing. Although there were regular tickets, we opted for the lawn. It is a really nice facility, very intimate. However, the afternoon games can get hot if you're not in the shade, which is a lot of the seats, not just the lawn. But we brought our picnic blanket and our 2 preschoolers, and had a great time on the grass! I think we might make this an annual event.

Yall definitely got a winner in Tom Glavine. Not only is he a good pitcher he is a great person. Our loss your gain. I will be a Mets fan while Tom is pitching(unless he is pitching against the Braves of course)

Thanks for all the feedback from everybody!!

maburke-- Hmmm... that's weird! We have to go through Ticketmaster up here and they only showed lawn seats available. Maybe that's only through them. Did you buy your tickets at the WWSC directly? Maybe that's what we need to do.

Yes, I bought them at the box office there. There was a big lit sign on the road to the complex that indicated that tickets were available for that day's game. I'm afraid I boycott Ticketmaster whenever possible. Maybe the date you were interested in was particularly popular. I checked the Ticketmaster website a few weeks ahead and saw that there were tickets available on the day I was interested in, against the Dodgers.

(Another big Glavine fan -- we're gonna miss him!)

And, Vero Beach puts you in the heart of Dodgertown and close enough to Jupiter and Ft Lauderdale -

We love spring training games. When we stayed at VB, we saw Mets vs. Dodgers. We went to the box office right after we arrived at VB, for a game later in the week & I'm glad we did because the game was sold out.
The next yr, we drove to Tampa, from WDW, to see the Yanks at Legends Field. It was good, but Legends Field was too much like a "regular" stadium to feel like spring training. It was a night game, but we made a day of Tampa, going to the Fla. State Aquarium in the day. We only decided to drive to Tampa after the Yanks vs. Braves at WDW sold out on the first day that tkts. were available thru TicketMonster (who I try to boycott , too, whenever possible)
Last yr., we saw a day game at WDW, Braves vs. Dodgers. We had great seats, behind homeplate (purchased in advance from Ticketmonster) but it was a daygame & it was REALLY hot in the sun.
This yr., our schedule was somewhat unsettled, so we didn't buy tkts. in advance, but after we arrived, DH & I went to the WWOS to get Dodgers vs. Cardinals, a day game. Only lawn seats were available & after our sun experience, we declined (As it turned out, this was the only cloudy, slightly cool day of our trip) we opted for Braves vs. TampaBay (obviously not as popular a game) & were able to get really good seats, behind home plate for a 7PM game. We were next to all the scouts, as they raised their speedguns w/ every pitch.
Interesting note, the tkt booth at WWOS is run by TicketMonster, only w/o all the fees. I found this out when I asked about rain-out policy & was told that we would have to send our tkts. to TicketMonster for a refund.

The in-stadium tickets do sell-out very quickly. It could be they have a large number of season ticket holders as well. The New York Yankee and New York Mets games seem to sell out particularly quickly. Watch the Braves website www.atlantabraves.com for info on the schedule and the date sales will start...Sales usually start around the first week of January.

The Mets training camp in Port St. Lucie is also an easy drive from Vero.

Havent' done spring training myself yet. Hopefully, next year. :)

We're from St. Louis and avid baseaball fans. Since my two sons spring break was during spring training we got ticket to one of the braves games at the Wide World of Sports. We went to the game Thursday afternoon (3/27). I bought the tickets back in January because our vacation week was dictated by the boys week off. The stadium was packed. Only seats left were in the bleachers far off in left field. We were sitting about 10 rows behind the astros dugout because I bought the tickets early. THe boys enjoyed it, but as with Spring training, the game was not overly exciting. Coaches play the reserves more, and really aren't interested in the outcome of the game, just how players perform. I don't think we'd do it again unless the Cardinals were playing the Braves...

I would recomend getting tickets early. The stadium was just about full for the game we went to. If you're a brave fan you might want to get tickets on the first base side. That's where the brave's dugout was
