Any DVC Owners who live on the West Coast?

All of you who fly and stay DVC, do you rent a car or is WDW transportation adequate (or hopefully better than adequate)? It seems like DVC is geared to those with cars, but if we didn't have to rent one we'd be that much closer to our next trip!

Personally, for park transport, I find the Disney transportation great. If you are staying at a larger DVC resort (OKW & SSR) you may have to do more walking than if you were at a smaller DVC resort. OKW & SSR are a bit more spread out due to size. But have buses that transport just within the resort.

We have in the past rent a car but I would not do that every trip as I find Disney buses to be quite efficient.

We live in L.A. and bought DVC after renting at WDW from DVC owners for 2 years. Since then, we took a trip in 2004, rented some points out and banked some points in 2005 (due to the birth of my baby that year), and then took a big trip in May 2006 to Vero and BCV. Next year we plan to go to Hawaii so I just rented next year's points to fund the Hawaii trip. Worked out great and it gives us more options than trying an exchange.

If you buy, just choose the points for an average stay that you would want, and if you don't want to go one year you can always rent or bank. I love how flexible DVC is, which is why we bought it.

We have never used points at the hotels. I can't really justify the cost... would rather rent my points and stay on hotwire at another hotel for a fraction of the cost.

I'm planning my Feb trip and I'm trying to make the decision to rent or not. There are a few threads over at the WDW Transportation forum that I'm following. I'm leaning towards renting a car.
