Any DVC Members become Semi-Finalist in Moms Panel Contest?

a semi-finalist...very, pleasantly surprised. We are proud DVC members and I mentioned that in my application. It is a dream job of mine, so I am really hoping to make it to the next round.

I got my rejection letter as well - DVC and Canadian, so probably not interested. I am curious with 5fromabove, why only 1 post? I posted about this on the other Disney Mom threads that most of the 2nd rounders don't have many posts, so some said they belonged to other boards. I just find it curious that people have applied to be on an Internet Disney travel panel, yet on the largest Disney Internet message board, they don't post hardly at all? Please don't get misunderstand me as I'm not saying that only people with lots of posts (I'd say over 500 would qualify as lots) would make good panelists, but I just find it funny that most of the 2nd rounders haven't posted much on here as this is exactly what you are going to be doing for Disney - I believe it's volunteer, so financial gain shouldn't be an issue either? Maybe it's the free trip, or actually working in an official capacity for Disney?

Hi Tiger! I actually am usually found on another board. However, a good friend of mine told me that she frequents DIS and convinced me to check your board out. I'm sorry if my post upset anyone, I was just hoping to share the good news that a DVC member was selected to move forward. I certainly am not interested in financial gain or any other such silly notion. I am a HUGE Disney fan, a mom of 5 wonderful children, a DVC member, an avid e-board poster and...well, quite normal I love to share my Disney knowledge, and applied for the Moms Panel because it sounded like a dream to me. I am known among my family and friends for my "Disney Obsession" and help people plan their trips quite often. I apologize again for upsetting anyone. I had been scanning your boards for quite some time now, as I mentioned, my friend is a major DIS fan. Best of luck to all of you moving on.

I wonder what they were looking for I got my rejection email on Wednesday. I got the one that said:

"Because of the incredible passion you and so many others have shown for Walt Disney World Resort®, we've been inspired to explore more concepts for programs -- beyond the Moms Panel -- to engage moms and dads like you who want to share their passion for the Parks. We plan to follow up with you in the near future with more details."

Guess we'll have to wait and see what that means.

Then I'm going to believe it's because I'm from Florida and they don't need many of us locals on there giving our local tips, like buying groceries off-property or something like that.

I am also interested to see what Disney comes up with for all of us with a "passion" for Disney.

Oh my goodness, I didn't mean any disrespect whatsover, just trying to make some type of connection as to how they chose the 2nd rounders, when there are so many similar stories? I noticed right away that most of the 2nd rounders don't have tons of posts on here, but I figured they would belong to other boards, so it's all very intriguing to me in that respect - I wish you the best of luck in the next phase

Ok, so I'm quoting myself here, but I did want to update and have it make sense

The moms panel came online yesterday (www.disneyworldmoms.com) and today I got the "follow up" email. I've been invited to join the moms club. Here's the email:

As you know, we recently conducted a search for moms who have mastered the art of planning a Walt Disney World® Resort vacation in our search for the first ever Walt Disney World® Moms Panel. While we were overwhelmed with 10,000 responses in just one week, it also was a turning point. When we saw the passion and heart warming stories you shared about your experiences at Walt Disney World ® Resort, we realized it was important to stay connected with you.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to become a member of a new club – a Walt Disney World® “Moms Club.” The name is still to be determined – in fact; you can help determine the name. This new program will include newsletters packed with parent-friendly Walt Disney World news that will also include surveys asking your opinions about Walt Disney World ® Resort. We are also developing a welcome kit for members that we intend to mail out this spring 2008.

I got it too and that is what I also chose. I think all us rejects got a letter. I did see a single Mom from British Columbia up here in canuckie land made it on the panel...Good For her!
