Well, every time I buy a bottle of water in WDW I get robbed... Does that count?

Seriously, we haven't had a problem, and have (stupidly) given crooks a chance to steal my camera a couple times (leaving it on the stroller by mistake) We always take our own stroller, and again - no troubles (knock on wood). Still, we go with the attitude that the stroller is expendable and I FREAK out until I get back to get my camera when I forget it.

I always leave my electronics (laptop, video equipment, etc) out in the room and have had no problems. Another reason I like not having daily maid service at DVC resorts...

License plate stolen off my car while parked at the valet lot at BWV. Not too serious, but a really big bother since I was at the beginning of an 8 week Florida trip.

In 15 trips we have turned in many items to lost and found, including a digital camera. My son left his hat at Tommorrow land Cafe. We realized it 10 minutes later. When we returned it was in the lost & found without the 7 or 8 pins that were on it. That was low. It was obviously a young childs hat. For someone to actually remove the pins and toss it aside really bothered me.

The second time was also a hat. My daughter left it out at Typhoon Lagoon and when we returned it was gone. We had all seen her put it on her bag on her chair. Obviously it had been taken. WDW is a wonderful place, but it is still risky to leave anything unattended of value.

We had a stroller stolen from outside Marrakesh restaurant at Epcot. it was just a cheap umbrella stroller, but it was very inconvenient and annoying. The next day we went to the main lost & found at MK, where they log in all found things by day, time, and location they're found. THAT was interesting. They didn't have our stroller, but they did practically beg us to take one of the ones that had been left there for months.

When my oldest daughter was in the 6th grade, a vision test determined she needed glasses. On our first trip with her new glasses, she took them off in the Millennium Village(remember that place?) and accidentally left them on a bench. We realized it within 5 minutes, but they were gone when we went back to the bench. A CM said he had just turned some glasses in to lost and found, and directed us to the L& F at Epcot, but they were not there. We were told to check the "central" lost and found the next day, which we did, but they were not there. We checked each day for the rest of the trip, and even on 2 future trips(3 and 5 months later), to no avail. The glasses were obviously kids' glasses, and very expensive, so I was a little disappointed. But I have to comment on the number of glasses we looked through at the "central" lost and found...hundreds! They were tagged with date/park found. I wonder what they do with all those sunglasses?
Another time, my second daughter lost her fanny pack containing a little cash (@$10), an autograph book, a fat pen, and a poncho. She went to the lost and found at MGM, but it had not been turned in. The CM gave her a handwritten note to take to the nearest gift shop that said she was to pick out a fanny pack, an autograph book, and a pen at no charge. I was not with my daughter(we were somewhere else in the park...she and her older sister were trying to see how many times they could ride Tower of Terror before getting sick). My daughters said they tried to decline the offer for the free fanny pack, but the CM insisted. I was very impressed. And when we returned home a week later, we had a package waiting for us...my daughter's fanny pack with all the items in it! Disney had mailed it to us, including the little card my daughter had filled out describing her fanny pack and items(she was 11...it was so cute)!

In 1998 our 7 yr old dd left her "Seymore the Seal" MacDonalds teeny beanie baby in the MK restroom. Of course, didn't notice until we were back at the Beach Club. That evening we were in "The Galley" restaurant and dd was crying about her lost Seymore. Our server, Dana, listened to the whole story from her and by the middle of dinner he had presented her with a Minnie doll from the BC gift shop. That was some great Disney Magic and we left a thank you letter to Dana (our server)with the Manager the next day. We checked every day but Seymore was never turned in.

Sounds like the stolen license plate may be a fairly common problem. At least it's better than a stolen car (heard about a sports car taken from the GF lot).

About 6 years ago we had a family wedding at Disney. It was a 3 day affair. actvities for 3 days.Day 1 family gathering in a GV at OKW, Day 2 The rehearsal dinner open to all 150 people. on The beach at FT Wilderness private Luau.
Well the wedding planners had contracted for private bus transportation to the familys, That was provided by DCL, (nicer Buses) The party sarted at 6pm? Maybe?
Bus number one picks up at GF, POLY, OKW, CB. Bus number 2 picks up at Boardwalk, Yacht. At 5pm. We have the bride and groom about 12 kids several infants. 30 adults all family. well we get picked up no problem. Then he starts to drive around and around. at first we are Jovial. Then he leaves the property, Now we are confused. The bride suspects a practical joke by FIL. Half an hour later we are out past some outlet malls. Kids are getting cranky, hungry, starting to cry, We are getting annoyed. we question the driver several times, He claims no problem. Ok....jokes no longer even remotely funny.
We end up in some Orange groves, He goes off the road, blows a middle tire, One baby goes flying off my Aunts lap cracks her head on the window. Now we are plain scared.
My uncles go to sit behind the driver, Force him to pull over at a 7-11/ Put him up against the side of the bus and he says hey nothings wrong here. I am not drunk crazy etc etc... Uncles go in the store to find out where we are take keys with them. And we are in, Lake Okeecochobee(SP) 45- 50 minutes from disney. We call Disney who I don't know/ Can not get through.
Come back to the bus. The bride and groom are now missing from thier own party we are an hour late and 45 min away.

The stolen license plate could be for many reasons but I wonder if people steal them for souvenirs.

We were at BCV last July and I did LOTS of laundry one night and there were a couple of guys hanging out in the laundry room as I popped in and out many times. It wasn't until November when we were packing again that DH noticed several articles of clothing were missing. Not enough stuff though to have been a whole load overlooked. I searched the house from one end to the other and they are no wheres. We check the room many times on our way out so I am confident they were not left there. I know I was sure to check the washer and dryer too. So I kind of wonder if someone didn't take them in the laundry room. That's the closest problem we have had.

I have always been amazed yet impressed with the trust people have at WDW. Those strollers and all the stuff left in them outside attractions.

I have read reports of rape before at a WDW resort. A couple years ago it was on national news that man who had his kid(S) held hostage with a gun at BW(divorce/custody issue). We were at WL during 9/11 and there was a guy security was observing in a room who they eventually removed, not sure the story but I had reason to believe he may have been dangerous by the activity I saw from security and the local police. Oh yeah and now this recent story of the pervert Tigger.

Well my Uncles are now not playing and sit behind the driver like air marshals, Everybody is flipping out kids are crying, Hungry tired, carsick. The bride is trying to be clam, the groom starts to have a panic issue, Because he realizes the party has started and noone from his side knows where in the bejeez he is.



Uncles get us back on property and we pull up to the Ft Wilderness sign. And can you guess what he did?

WENT PAST IT!!!!

Now... The language was ugly, threats of bodily harm were made. We go around the little gas station loop again. and finally pull into FT Wilderness at 7 thirty.
We try to get off the bus, we can not see its dark, and he wont turn on the lights so we can get the kids out. when we stepped off the bus we were greeted by a bevy of security. Parents of the bride and groom, A crying wedding planner and lots of people with walkie talkies. As we get off and Uncle sees this is no joke we are VERY upset, He turns and says to the Disney people... well sorry can't say it. They take the guy/driver off in a town car. It seems there is a tracking device in the bus and he had disabled it.
Hey... and we are off to the party, Yee ha!!!Food was cold, grooms mom was all up in arms.
The next day, Bus service showed up to transport to the pavillion.
There is no way I am getting on it. No freaking way. A man holding up the name sign trys to get us to get on the bus. I decline, and he assures me there will be no issue. As the bus has an escort, in front and one behind.
I did not get on that bus, we took a cab. Never took a bus for the rest of the trip.
Come to think of it if you have read my trip reports I always take a cab, Never the bus. I guess this is where that started. I never did get to what actually happened, I did here somthing about him being on Prescription meds and he got lost. Come on now!!!!! The groom was from a family that UUUmmm how shall I say this, Has a bit of money, quite a bit of money. They are very low key but thier name is recognizable. So I know there was concern that it had somthing to do with that aspect of the drama. As I said they later said he was under the influence and had some shall we say Issues. He was fired. It was a very interesting wedding.

My point is that even though disney has excellent security you still must be aware of your surrounding.
I have seen very young children being sent back to thier room from the pool alone.This is very dangerous.
I have seen people leave camera wallets and jewelery laying around the pools.
Many people think thay every person who goes to disney is a nice family person and most are but there are creeps every where.

We leave tommorow for BWV.Can't wait.
But due to world events I will be extra vigilant looking for bags left in public places.

If you see any thing that does not look right alert a CM they will handle it.

I have seen very young children being sent back to thier room from the pool alone.

We saw this last year at VB. I could start a thread on this subject alone, but I won't.

2 years ago clients of ours had all their luggage stolen from their rented minivan while checking into POR. They called Disney Security who called the Orange County Sheriff. Deputy said they have waves of that from time to time. Said the criminals were probably sitting in a vehicle in the lot watching for someone checking in. They like minivans because they can see in the windows, even the tinted. They were able to claim it on their homeowners insurance.

I recall at least one report on these boards about someone broke into their room and stole some valuables. Then there was the DVC members assaulted by another member in the Laundry room over a W/D disagreement, the victim is a member of this board I might ad. If the other party was, they never admitted it that I'm aware of.

One trip I had prescription migraine pain medication for in the kitchen cabinet along with the coffee and snacks we had in there. I'd taken taken two the morning of the full cleaning.. the bottle had about 24 pills left in it.. Also there was DH's blood pressure medication, vitamen's, asprin, etc.
That evening I couldn't find my Tigger sport watch which I swore I left on the nightstand.. never did find it.. figured I'd just misplaced it or dropped it. Then when we were packing for home a few days later and I went to put my prescription in my bag the bottle was down on it's side.. and ... there were only 2 pills in the bottle.
When I mentioned it to my doc when I had to call when got home and explain why I needed a refill she said it's a very common thef from hotel rooms.

I believe that my watch (cheap Timex) was stolen at Typhoon Lagoon. I reported it missing and it never turned up. Mere annoyance, but still frustrating.

Were they narcotic? Very hard for the slightly unscrupulous to resist -- either for personal use or to sell. Keep them well hidden. Even at home if your kids are bringing teenage friends into the house.
