Any DVC activity for member staying offsite?

Hi,

We are relatively new members. We have not got back to WDW after purchase points at OKW yet. I just booked a trip for the week after Thanksgiving when my DH has a business trip to FL. We could not find anything available at any of the DVC resorts. So we are going to stay offsite.

Is there anything we can do as members at any of the DVC resorts? We stayed at the OKW as renters one time and toured the SSR. I am thinking about checking out at least one other DVC resort this time. My boys are 10 nd 8. They are always looking for something to do. We went to Beaches & Creams for ice cream a few times. We all enjoyed that. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jane

You are allowed to pool hop. And you still get the member perks. Just make sure you bring your DVC card.

Actually, you are allowed to pool hop only when staying at a DVC resort at WDW. You can still get any member discounts that are available.

However, DVC resort restaurants (like all WDW resort restaurants) and shops are open to the general public, so you are free to dine at any resort during your visit.

And you have to be staying on points at a DVC resort. You can't rent through CRO and pool hop. Plus, pool hopping can't be during a blacked out holiday time.

You can get the shopping discounts. You can get the dining discounts. You can do the DVC previews (like in Dec for the Musical Nemo show). You can valet park at a DVC resort for free (just pay the tip) and visit the resort (but not go to the theme parks). You can do the rentals of boats and other sporting equipment with the DVC discount.

How about the "Welcome Home Wednesdays" that they are doing now...at the dance hall near the boardwalk, 4pm. Might be fun and DVC-like. :)

If you are there long enough, you can go to the Merry Member Mixer.

I still hope they have the "Member Mixer" on Dec 13th.

You can go.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I looked into the parties and found that we will have to miss both the welcome home and member mixer :guilty: . We will arrive Wednesday night and leave on Sunday.

After reading more about the Disney resort, I am leaning towards visiting the Boardwalk this time. It seems to have a lot going on and the kids will enjoy eating at the ESPN. Are evenings the best time to go? We booked the Very Merry Christmas Party for Dec 1. We will not visit the parks during that day. We can go around lunch time if there are things to see/do during the day also.

There really isn't much going on at the BW until later in the afternoon.

found the towel thing that I want to do at OKW but it is only on Saturday - don't pay the extra points for Sat so staying offsite.

Can I still participate in this?

Are you going to the parks? If so, you can just check out Boardwalk in the evening after visiting either Epcot or the Studios. Check the member's website to get the information on the current DVC discounts for restaurants, shows and shops.

I guess we will do that the night before. We will go after Epcot. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't you have to show a current Room ID to do these things?
