So, I need a 4 day DLR and a Seaworld admission. Purchased seperately, they total 209.95pp. The CityPass plus an additional 1 day/1 park DL ticket comes to 241.00. How do I go and upgrade the DLR ticket from the CityPass from a 3 to a 4 day hopper? Any idea of the extra cost?
Thanks for all your help, everyone! I'm trying to save money so we can afford to do more on our honeymoon without spending more than need be.
Actually, for you, the city pass might not be the way to go. When you use the 3 day hopper to upgrade you get the advance purchase price from disney as credit -- so you would get $139 in credit to use toward your 4 day hopper. The problem is that you still have to pay the full gate price for the 4-day hopper, or $189, so you'll have to pony up an additional $50 per ticket to upgrade to a 4 day hopper.
The reason this is a bad deal is that you can get an advance 4-day hopper for $159 from disney (and as little as $154 from discounters like ARES travel), if you purchase it in advance.
So basically, if you can get a city pass through costco for $165, your total price for the upgraded 4-day park hopper and the rest of the city pass tickets should be around $215.
By comparison, if you merely purchased an advance 4-day hopper for $159 and then found a discount source to get sea world tickets (which can be had for around $40 and even less if you work at it), you'd only pay $200.
So, the bottom line is that if you ONLY want the sea world ticket and a 4-day disneyland park hopper, the city pass would not seem to be a good deal. If, however, you are planning to use either of the other two tickets in the city pass -- the zoo or knotts -- getting the city pass and paying $50 to upgrade to the 4 day hopper is still a better deal.
Hope that helps; I just reread it and understand it's pretty confusing but hopefully I got the basics across.
