This might sound dumb but I'm wondering if anyone else here watches Dr. Who & Torchwood? I've become addicted to these shows and my family thinks I'm crazy. Last night was the finale for Dr. Who Season 2 & Torchwood Season 1 and I was both impressed and upset with the endings. So, am I alone here?

I  Dr. Who. I haven't been able to get into Torchwood yet. Mostly because I've only seen one episode and it didn't wow me.

I prefer the Doctor from the first season to the cutie pie from the current season. This one is easier on the eyes, but I liked the way the first one acted.

I also liked it better when it was on at 9 instead of 8. Makes watching the Avatar a little bit difficult. Good thing for the TiVo stuff. :thumbsup2

I agree with you about the 1st season Doctor - I was upset when he changed. The first-run episode is on at 6 here and Torchwood at 8, then I tend to watch the reruns from last week and spend Saturday from 5 to 9 watching the two shows. Did you watch the finale of Season 2 yet?

There have been some Torchwood episodes that I haven't liked as well - did you start with the 1st episode?

Me! Me!

I was a Doctor Who fan from the first round. I started watching on PBS when Tom Baker was the doctor and when it came back with Christopher Eccleston several years ago (Sci-Fi? I think?) I couldn't get into it. It was just too different from the hokey old shows I was accumstomed to. ;)

But we started watching again when it came on BBC America & DD fell in love with it! There's a T-shirt that says "You never forget your first doctor" and I think it's true to some extent. I still love Tom Baker & DD still prefers CE, but we both love David Tennant too.

I sat here & sobbed last night.

Talk about tear jerkers! I already knew what happened (we watched the third season on Sci-Fi before season 2 started) but it didn't help! I just read something about season 4 and I hope it's true!! Billie Piper is coming back - at least for a few episodes. From what I read she's definitely coming back, they're just not sure if it will be longer than a few episodes. I can't wait!!

As for Torchwood...we really like this show too, but haven't watched all the way through a couple episodes. What the British feel is acceptable television doesn't always sit well with us. We're not homophobic, but sometimes it's a bit over the top. At 16, DD is the most sensitive to it. She'll get up & leave the room if her Dad is watching - whereas I'll just change the channel if it looks like it's headed in that direction. I'll confess to going back & watching the reruns on Sunday when she's doing her service work at church. :rolleyes1

I just love Captain Jack Harkness...whatever his name is! ;)

Is the end of season two where we lose Rose?
Man, I really cried when that happened. I think that hurt more than losing my first doctor.
I have not seen the last episodes for this season. Martha is nice and all, but I just can't get into watching her.

I'm watching on BBC America so it's the end of Season 2 - yes where he loses Rose. I know it's on Sci-fi but since i just started my obsession in September when BBC ran an all day marathon of Season 1, I wanted to watch it in order.

Piratesmate - Season 4? Spoilers?

I used to occasionally watch the original on PBS and I liked it but I love the new ones! And I do love Captain Jack - he is so cute!

There's a mini-spoiler at the end of the paragraph that mentions it..."about season 4 and I hope it's true!!" I put it in white in case someone didn't really want to know. ;) While I, on the other hand, will look up the synopses for a whole season & read them ahead of time! :lmao: :lmao:

The only other spoiler I've seen...again, highlight to view:
"As you may know, Catherine Tate, aka The Runaway Bride, will be the new companion. I think this is cool; she has potential."

I did know about this last one, but not about the first one.

I've also heard that the current doctor won't finish out season four.

DH and I love Dr. Who!!!!!! (Both old and new.) Only we don't have cable or satilite so we rely on DVDs. He's actually getting the new Dr. Who series 2 and 3 for Christmas. I can't wait to watch them:goodvibes , but I think he would notice if I opened up the packages.

Oh - I'd forgotten about David Tennant leaving! :( He's supposed to be replaced with the guy who played the master in season 3, isn't he? That's going to be weird I think!

Boy am I behind! Are they changing doctors quicker on the new series than the original? I did catch one of season 3 on SciFi and liked it but it just wasn't the same.

I was planning on requesting Dr Who for Christmas but we decided not to exchange gifts because of dd 25's wedding.

They've done a good job at transitioning from one cast member to the next. I really liked the way Rose's father (of a sorts) saved her from the void, even if she won't see the doctor again. And I was happy that Micky was part of it - I liked him.

I don't think the original series had this many doctor changes. They seemed to average 3 seasons (years) per the Wikipedia time lines.

I really like the ending that Jackie was giving Rose a little sibling. Kinda cute.

I didn't watch all the episodes with the Master, just a bit part where he ages the Doctor, so hopefully I can warm up to the Master being the Doctor, :confused3 . That just sounds weird.

So I started to do a little bit of research and the BBC site says (highlight if you want

Rose will be back in Series 4 but didn't give any more info. Just a tidbit that you all might have already known as I seem to be behind on the series :)

I started watching Tin Man on SciFi - so far it's an interesting twist on the Wizard of OZ
