Any Downside in Accepting a Friends & Family Invite?

Wifey and I have had a My Disney Experience account for some time now and we added BIL and SIL as F&F as we went to WDW together twice. Next month they and their family are going without us and I can see their plans on my MDE account. Today their daughter, my niece, sent me a F&F invite, she's not on my F&F list. I can't imagine why, her father, my BIL, can access the account (I think), is there any downside to accepting her invite? I don't fear any meddling in our Nov plans, I just get nervous when anyone might accidentally delete or change something. So far only our BW reservation is posted, we have no ADRs and the FP+ window is far away. Would accepting this add her to my F&F?

Yes, it will add her. If she isn't someone who is usually on your trips, there's no reason to accept her request.

She probably thinks she's just adding you as a friend as in Facebook.

I personally don't like having outside people in my F&F. Last year my SIL (a Disney newbie unaware of the pre-planning required for some adrs, etc) decided to join us last minute (honestly un-invited and I only heard about her plans from my MIL)I told her to set up a MDE account to try to make fast passes to match ours and a Cast member added her to my F&F account (without my approval). She got frustrated that she could've find availability for the hard to get FP we already had. I am lucky that she didn't change anything but I could totally see where she may have tried not knowing how hard it to get last minute fp on headliners. When I saw her in my account, I removed her.
Also, I have my in laws listed on a reservation for a beach trip and now when I make plans for a WDW trip I always have to make sure I am selecting the correct names for my plans (it is a small thing, but slightly annoying)

Here is an interesting trick.. If you accept the invite and then remove them from your friends and family, you show up in their account but your not actually linked.. It's a nice way to accept their invite and not have them linked without them knowing or having to tell them why you aren't going to accept it.. You just need to remember you did this if you need to actually link to do it again if your traveling together in the future.. It also goes for people after a trip when you don't want to be linked anymore, just remove them from your list.

Another option is to accept and then update them in the list right away. You'll find 2 options for what plans they can see (select the shared plans) and there is a checkbox if they can see your photos which you can uncheck so they can't. The catch22 on this is they could still book you for things and fastpasses, they might be able to modify a fastpass if they go to book and you have an overlapping so it's not 1000% safe if your worried abotu someone making plan changes on you.

I'm fussy about who I want able to access and see my plans. I keep my "links" to a bare minimum and delete my friends and family after each trip, then add back in people when a new trip is coming up. I just like my privacy, I guess.
