I'm sure I've broken my toe (next to big one) I heard a crack and it's very swollen and most of my upper foot is bruised.
I know there's nothing any hospital will do. So I've decided not to bother going.
My question is, will it still be painful/broken for our trip in six weeks and 5 days?

Well your in luck (sort of). I work in AE as a nurse. Now you must be in a lot of pain.It normally takes between 3-6 weeks to completeley heal but if you are still in a lot of pain after 3 weeks you would have to seek medical advice. If it is your big toe you will have to go to the GP but if it is one of the others they normally just strap the ijured toe and the one next to it togeather.
Let me know how you go.

I broke my little toe and the one next to it a week before we went to Florida three years ago. I was in so much pain I actually went to casualty (have to do something serious to get me anywhere near anything remotely medical cos I'm White Coat Phobic:scared: ).

I had a 'spiral' fracture of the toes which seemed to cause some concern because these sometimes don't heal right. Perhaps you ought to get yours checked out?

I was told by the consultant NO WALKING for three - four weeks. I explained I was due to fly out to Florida and there was no way I couldn't not walk, so he told me to use a wheelchair all the time. I did this and the pain slowly got better, spent most of the time hobbling around in flip flops (not ideal because you have no protection), but they were the only shoes I could get on:sad1:

It didn't stop me having a great time in Florida though:)

Hope your toe gets better soon.

Hi

It really depends on what fracture you have i.e if it is a straight fracture otherwise the bone will heel and it will not heel properly and sometimes it can cause problems in the future. You dont really want to go to surgery and have you toe broken again and set. My advice just pop to any minor injury unit or your local A&E. Just to ensure the fracture is clean.
