Any Disney Loving Star Trek fans?

Hi. I’m sure someone will let me know if this isn’t an appropriate use of the DIS boards...

My name is Jordan and I’m a college Junior in Massachusetts. I’m writing a short paper on science fiction fandom and I’d like to compare it to what I guess you could call Disney fandom. What is it about these two seemingly different genres of entertainment that elicits such devotion? If there’s anyone out there who’d be available for an IM interview Saturday or Sunday, please PM or email me. I also welcome any general thoughts on the topic by the community at large.

And as a side note, I’m really enjoying this site – I’m a big WDW fan and am a little upset over not finding it sooner.

I love them both!

Not sure why..maybe because both allow me to escape into fantasy, even if they are of a different sort.

They are both out of my childhood too. I watched Wonderful World of Disney religiously on Sunday nights back in the early 70's and also watched Star Trek on the weekends in syndication.

Both have good childhood memories for me.

I have always loved space and my favorite land has always been Tomorrowland....

Hubby and I collect both Star Trek stuff and Disney stuff. In our living room we have a display of Star Trek pewter ships next to a wall with a large Mickey dressed as a policeman we bought at downtown Disney at the artist studio.
