Any discounts for the Animal Lodge?

We want to stay with a view of the Savannah and it's $320 a night? We may have to do just a couple days there then a few days at a cheaper hotel that is off-site... any recs for other non-resort hotels that are about $100 a night? It's just and my husband so we don't have to have kid-friendly or special accomodations.

Also any reviews of the Animal Kingdom Hotel?

I also read somewhere there isn't a bus that goes to the Animal Kingdom itself?

Hi there,

You will probably get many opinions of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Some people think it's too dark inside and too remote, however we loved it. It's a unique experience to see those kinds of animals outside your window - and yes even how many animals you see and when is totally random - but we didn't have any problems there either.

Since you quoted $320/night I'm going to assume you are looking at late April or after, in regular season? If you belong to AAA you may be able to get a small discount off now. I don't believe any codes for that timeframe have come out yet but look on these boards for posts on codes during the time you want to travel and check here http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html


Can't help you with offsite hotels but I'm sure they could on the "Orlando Hotels and attractions" board.

There are buses to all the parks from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Animal Kingdom is the one park that is fairly close to this resort.

We are going March 5-12 and are getting 199 for a savanah view room with an AP discount. Even with the extra 200 in cost for the AP, the savings on the room outweigh it by almost 1000!

We would never be able to stay anywhere more expensive than this (this is pushing it big time, I had to promise to stay in WDW the whole week and no outlet shopping!)

We have stayed at the AKL on our last two trips due to the AP discounted rate we were able to get. We have booked early at POR but when the discount rates come out we changed to the AKL. It is a little darker but we like the delux resorts and it is nice to see the animals. We also like Mara the snack bar. It is better then the ones in many of the other deluxe resorts.
