Any disadvantages using Travel Agent when booking concierge?

I have tried searching on the forum, but can't find anything on point. I have found some information that if you use a travel agent, you can't call Disney directly about your reservation for things like changing dinner times or things like that.

What I couldn't find is what that means if you book concierge. Do you have to go through a TA to get a cabana at castaway cay reserved of things like that? Would you still interact with the pre-sail shoreside Disney cast for the pre-sail perks with TA?

What about linking our reservation to another part of the family that didn't use a TA? Can a TA get it so that we can be at the same dinner table, or would that "be through Disney" since the other side didn't use it?

I can answer the first part of your question. I have used a TA for 2 concierge cruises and you still get access to Shoreside Concierge to help you book cabanas, shore excursions, Palo, special requests, etc. You must use your TA if you need to modify your reservation in any way like sail date, names of people, adding/removing ground transfers, etc. I have never changed my dining time so I actually don't know if Shoreside can do that for you or if it has to be done through the TA.

I am not sure about linking the dining reservations as I have never tried to do that.

Using a TA means you must go through them with any reservation or payment issues. Booking excursions/cabanas, online check-in, you can do yourself.

I have sailed concierge, booking everything through Disney. All special requests were made through shoreside concierge (table by windows, dining with just family, special drinks in our room, cabana, etc..) 2016 we are sailing concierge, but booked through TA. I would assume all these special requests will go through shoreside concierge this time, too. Thoughts and comments appreciated.

12 DCL cruises and all booked with a TA and half of these were concierge.

Payments for the cruise goes by the TA, and changes, to cabin, upgrades, change to cruise via TA.

Requests for dinner table, pre pay tips, information, shore trips, spa, nursery booking, and Adult dinning, wine packages, gifts for room, via shoreside concierge.

Cabana is secured by shoreside concierge direct, not TA.

We traveled in concierge in January using a TA. We had other family members in 3 other non concierge staterooms that were booked through a different TA. Our TA was able to link all the reservations for coming an excursions.

I am an agent and booked my own trip in concierge for earlier this year. Shoreside emailed my personal email and discussed everything with me as the guest not the agent :) as the agent, I received a cc on the first concierge email. :)
