Just got the new catalog and can't wait to make some of the recipes in there. If you love & use Penzey's, chime in on some questions...

1) Favorite herb/spice?
2) Glass or plastic?
3) How many jars do you currently own?

My answers...

1) Their garlic salt is to die for! Also love their Korintje Cinnamon and Sandwich Sprinkle.
2) Have to say, I miss the old plastic jars. Anyone know why they changed?
3) 48

Boy. You got me beat.
I always buy new vanilla, cinnamon and ginger at Christmas but don't cook enough to even know what to do with others. :worship:

1) Favorite herb/spice?
Lately it's been Spanish Paparika
DH loves their Sandwich Sprinkle!

2) Glass or plastic?

Favorite--boy that is a tough one--Sunny Paris maybe, but their fajita seasoning is great, BBQ 3000 is really good, Fox Point on potatoes is awesome--I really like them all

I am guessing that the glass jars are more environmentally friendly

I am guessing I am in the 40-50 range.

We have a Penzey's store about 3 miles from our house :thumbsup2.

I just remembered their chip dip mix too--that is really good too!!

Tell me about Penzey's. I've never heard of them until this thread, and I looked up their website. It's kind of overwhelming all the products they have listed. Sounds great, though!

:thumbsup2Thanks for the feedback, their new catalog came with a coupon for one small jar of your choosing, FREE! So I was looking for some ideas and you've given some good ones!
For the person not familiar with Penzeys, give them a call and ask them to mail you a catalog, I think it's much easier to see and read on paper rather than try to navigate their website. Basically, it's a Wisconsin based company (go Badgers!) selling really high quality herbs and spices but cheaper than most you can get in the grocery store. Their basic stuff - basil, oregano, cumin - are really fresh and aromatic, but their blends really drew me in. Their catalogs also include recipes and they have great gift baskets, I've given multiple wedding & shower gifts of their products.

Their gift baskets make GREAT hostess gifts or housewarming gifts as well. I have been giving them out lately and have gotten rave reviews. I have a friend in our old town that always puts in an order every time we come down (she is the one that got me hooked on them).

I LOVE Penzey's! I first heard about them here on the DIS. We have one here, but it's about 30 minutes from my house. Right now my favorite is the Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle-I love it on popcorn. I probably have 15-20 items from them right now-all glass (except for the bay leaves and soup bases). I was wondering when their new catalog was coming out-gotta love those coupons! :lovestruc

I love Penzeys. I have made vacation detours to find retail shops.

My favorite, hands down, is the garlic salt. I also love their toasted onion powder. It smells like onion soup mix. Love it! Also, I always keep their dutch cocoa in stock. It is real smooth for hot chocolate.

Speaking of chocolate. I don't care for their hot chocolate mix. The only thing that hasn't worked for me taste wise.

I dig the glass bottles and have about 15.

It is also a great wedding gift. I go for the gift certificates instead of the box sets.

The penzeys factory is about a mile from my house. Maybe I need to make a stop to their factory store.

Didn't know they did mixes and others mentioned below...

OMG I :lovestruc Penzeys!!

I would love to see what everyone else does with some of their spices! So bring on the ideas and recipes!!

I use the lemon pepper alot. On plain chicken, fresh green beans, plain pasta
I put cinnamon in my oatmeal every morning
Fox point seasoning is good on anything!!
DD loves garden salad seasoning on pasta..she got a jar in her xmas stocking :lmao:
we do alot of grilled quesadillas in the summer and the fajita, and taco seasonings are great, but the turkish is REALLY good on it, more kick to it
hmmm and the peppercorns are delicious!!

:rotfl:mmmmm penzeys!

I'm resurrecting this thread because I got my first Penzeys catalog in the mail this week after finding out about them on here. I'm so overwhelmed, though, I want to order about 50 things!

Has anybody tried the new Arizona Dreaming? It sounds good, and the recipes they have with it in the catalog look delicious. There are so many of the blends that appeal to me. Are there any blends that aren't as great as they sound on paper?

Thanks!

I ordered a catalog after reading this thread and just got mine yesterday too! I want to order everything!

Just got back from a long weekend out to Pittsburgh. I HAD to drop by Penzey's in the Strip district!!!

My purchases where Origional Taco Seasoning, Indonesia Cinnamon, Pure Vanilla Extract Double Strengh, English Prime Rib Rub, Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle, BBQ 3000 (already had it on grilled pork loin steaks..WONDERFUL!!!), and Northwoods Seasoning (using it tonight on chicken breast).

So much more I want to get.

I finally made up my mind last week and placed an order with about 15 different spices! I'm so excited to try them out. Tonight we're having corn and pork chops seasoned with Arizona Dreaming and some mashed potatoes with a little Fox Point mixed in. Yum!
