Any idea what could be going on with me? Im thinking possible gallbladder attack but I usually dont have any pain.

Every so often I get these really weird symptoms. It usually starts off with me feeling lightheaded. Then I get the shakes and I get nausea. My heart rate skyrises and then I either puke or get diarrhea (usually the diarrhea) Within minutes of that I am fine, although a bit shaky and will sometimes go lie down. The whole episode last anywhere from 20-30 minutes depending on how fast I go to the bathroom. Its been happening more at night and I wake up shaking. Last night I had chinese so I am thinking it had something to do with that but the last time it happened I had barely ate a thing? I am going to the doctors this week but I am trying to find out what the triggers might be?

I've heard there a plenty of doctors on the DIS so you're in luck!!!:)

Gallbladder stuff is weird and it certainly sounds like it could be that, although, before a doctor will perform a test on you they almost always want to hear about pain on the right side (rib cage area).

Many years ago, I was having similar episodes but for me it only seemed to happen when I ate out. The worst time it happened was in a Chinese restaurant and I sort of figured out that I was being sensitive to MSG.

I had it happen one other time in a Thai restaurant (that claimed they don't use MSG) and another restaurant that I frequent that also makes that claim so I don't know. But like you, I have this weird feeling come over me, my heart rate goes up, my whole "insides" feel really weird. I end up in the bathroom but not with nausea or vomiting. The other. Then it's over but I feel really wiped out for the rest of the day.

The odd thing for me is that this went on over a span of time but it hasn't happened in MANY years.

I think it wouldn't hurt to run it past your doctor though.

My mom is going through gallbladder stuff right now, she said that she has extreme pain and its not something that goes away quickly.

I've had episodes like you are describing, and usually its just by body trying to flush something it doesn't like. My heart has tested fine, maybe its IBS, I haven't gotten tested for that yet.

Good luck finding out what is wrong.

I would look toward fluctuating blood sugar levels too. I would get an appointment with your doctor, tomorrow if possible.

I'd almost say it sounds like a blood sugar issue or hypoglyecemia. Gall bladder attacks involve pain (between the shoulder blades and to the right) that dosn't go away after 30 minutes.

thanks! Its weird because I do get some gas pain/cramping after I eat but never when I have these episodes. I have tried elimination diets thinking it was either caffeine or coffee because a lot of the time it happens when I have a cup of coffee after not having one in a while, but does not happen when I drink tea everyday. it has also happened when I don't have any caffeine at all :(...

I never though about hypoglycemia. I do get really shaky if I dont eat...

I agree with the hypoglycemia..your blood sugar (BS) drops around 12-3 (hence the midnight snacks) and your symptoms sound like this...please keep us updated...

Classic sign of hypoglycemia. Make sure you eat a good protein meal for breakfast and that will help but you should still see the doctor.

Hi!

There is also a syndrome called "Dumping Syndrome."

Here is a defination from the Mayo Clinic:

"When symptoms of dumping syndrome occur during a meal or within 15 to 30 minutes following a meal, they may include:

■Nausea
■Vomiting
■Abdominal pain, cramps
■Diarrhea
■Dizziness, lightheadedness
■Bloating, belching
■Fatigue
■Heart palpitations, rapid heart rate
When signs and symptoms develop later, they may include:

■Sweating
■Weakness, fatigue
■Dizziness, lightheadedness
■Shakiness
■Feelings of anxiety, nervousness
■Heart palpitations, rapid heart rate
■Fainting
■Mental confusion
■Diarrhea
Some people experience both early and late signs and symptoms. Conditions such as dizziness and heart palpitations can occur either early or late — or both. No matter when problems develop, however, they may be worse in the aftermath of a high-sugar meal, especially one that's rich in sucrose (table sugar) or fructose (fruit sugar).

Some people also experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), related to excessive levels of insulin delivered to the bloodstream as part of the syndrome. Hypoglycemia is more often related to late signs and symptoms. Insulin influences your tissues to take up the sugar present in your bloodstream. "

Don't rule out panic attacks also. They last from 3 minutes to an hour and sound a lot like what you have. It is due to an adrenaline rush which will make your whole digestive system speed up. Caffeine exacerbates this. Coffee has 2-3 times the amount of caffeine as tea, sometimes more.

Go to a doctor.
Hypoglycemia comes to mind.
Not so much gall bladder.
Dumping syndrome is usually associated with something like surgery...have you had an any GI surgeries?
Cardiac issues also come to mind. If you are a woman, remember that heart attacks and angina don't always present with the "crushing chest pain" scenario like they do in men.
When I was in my early 20's I had symptoms much liek you describe for about 2 weeks...thought it was gall bladder...ended up being a pulmonary embolism.
Go to a doctor. Soon.

Those symptoms sound exactly like what my daughter has. She was diagnosed with IBS.

The last time I went to the doctor for the same symptoms they told me it was viral and/or a panic attack. That was when I only had them during the day. I only get them 1-2 times a month, if that. the last 2 have been at night. I am thinking now it probably either IBS or Dumping Syndrome ( with hypoglycemia)

Pain can and often does occur on the "wrong" side for gallbladder and appendicitis. I had an attack a couple weeks ago and all the pain was on the left and above my belly button-none on the right where the gallbladder is.

The quick recovery doesn't sound like gallbladder though.

Your symptoms sound suspicious for cardiac problems. Women have different symptoms than men. Rather than crushing chest pain and pain radiating down the arm, women tend to have nausea & vomting, stomach ache, faint feeling, sweating and anxiety. Hopefully, its not cardiac and turns out to be a GI problem. But I think you need to get this checked ASAP just in case.

Have them test thyroid too. I have hypothyroid and similar symptoms. I also have Irritable bowel and stress sets it off and some foods.

I hope it is something that passes.
