I feel like there shouldn't be much difference between the two weekends, but I thought I'd check before we make our decision. We have no conflicts either weekend.

Seems that each park is open an hour later on 1/29-31. Does that usually mean they expect higher crowds?

Will having MLK weekend the previous weekend affect attendance on 1/22-24?

I saw a "crafts" expo of some sorts is at the convention center starting the 24th - is this a big deal?

Thanks so much!!

I don't know what is going on Jan. 29-31 but I'm trying to book a room on a budget and a lot of the area hotels/motels on harbor and katella are either booked up or super expensive. I don't remember it being like this before. I wonder if something special is going on during those dates. As for the 22-24, i have no idea if it gets busy the weekend after MLK. I try to avoid the weekends before, during, and after the major holidays and tourist seasons.

FWIW, IASW will be down to remove the holiday overlay from Jan. 19 to Jan. 28, so IASW would be down if you visit DLR from 1/22 to 1/24.

HTH :earsboy:

The biggest difference is that DizMe will be there on the first weekend :goodvibes

I went last year on the days around the 24th (weekend) because it's my birthday, and I'm going again this year on that weekend. It was not busy at all last year. The craft thing happens every year and has little/no impact. We rode from the airport in a shuttle with several craft convention people and none planned to go to DL nor did they seem to think many of the convention goers would, either.

I don't know about the next weekend, but generally it isn't a busy time. If the hotels are booked up, then maybe something bigger is going on and it will impact the crowds, but I haven't heard what it might be.

Try the Hojo, I just made a reservation for the 29th and 30th yesterday. Entertainment rate is available.
Good luck!

This will be our fourth year in a row going the entire last week of Jan. Last year it was busier than years before....probably almost twice as much in wait times as previous years. Not sure why....craft show does impact some as well.

Ah! I have nothing with which to compare except our trips in Oct, so it seemed low-key to me. We didn't think there was much of a wait for things, but the first day we went it was raining so that probably helped thin things out.

2006 and 2007 were the best years and 2008 and 2009 it has picked up that week...not sure why. Maybe because of the various promotions that are running, etc. Obviously it is not remotely unmanageable or we would not take DS out of school if we thought it was not worth it to do so.

This will be our last trip for awhile as we are not renewing our AP's. Price has gone up and we are planning a DCL cruise in 2011 (Alaska) and want to venture out to new vacation spots. I know I am going to have a hard time not planning a DL trip but we have a ton of AA credits so maybe I can sneak a trip in within the next year.

I would love to be able to find a way into Club 33 for this trip since it is on my bucket list but I am planning on settling for my old standby of Napa Rose and even booked us twice during our stay. :thumbsup2
