Is there really any difference between an 8AM ADR and an 8:40AM ADR (on a day the park opens at 9AM)? Will you still get let into the park at 7:45 with the later ADR? I've read that for the PPO ADRs it's seems like seating is first come first serve not really based on ADR time, is that true for an ADR 40 minutes later than the first ADR?

You may be let in the park earlier, but they will still seat you according to your ADR time. If you are too early they may not even let you check in for your meal.

Unless things have changed recently, this isn't as much the case at park opening as it is later in the day. Because the restaurants are anxious to get things up and flowing, they've taken folks as they check in and get the seatings going. Not paying a lot of attention to 805 vs 810 vs 820.
Would that apply to one as late as 840? I can't say for sure, but I think maybe not.
