I just booked our trip to Disney World yesterday! We are going in December. We are planning on 4 days at the World, staying at the POR resort, and then the cruise for 3 days!!! I'm so excited and I want to talk to others who are going in December!!!

DH and I took our sons, ages 5 and 8, to DW for the very first time (for all 4 of us) in December of 2008 and my sons say at least once per week that they want to go back. We have them convinced that we won't be able to afford another trip for at least another year or two. So, when we surprise them with the trip later this year, they will be through the roof!!!

Hi, Dh and I have made December a tradition. We will be down Dec 16-21 at POFQ, may add some more days later, but that is what is booked right now. This will be our 4th Dec trip. It is one of our favorite times to go, the parks are so beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Oh, your boys will be so surprised. We don't have children, so this is our Anniversary (Dec 8) and Christmas presents to each other.

We're planning on visiting from 11/30-12/4; that counts as December, right? LOL

We haven't made any reservations, yet. We're hoping to rent through DVC to stay at the AKL.

We're booked for Nov 29 - Dec 5 at AKL. This is mine and DH's 2nd December trip and first trip ever for our boys.

How are the crowds in December (assuming your first trip in Dec wasn't around Christmas); this will be our first trip and I'm hoping for low crowds for low-stress fun

I just wanted to say welcome to DISboards. We are also planning a trip on December for DS birthday. We are also excited. :yay:

Have a nice and fun planning for us. :)

Our first trip was the week before Christmas (Dec 17-21, 2001). The week started out with low crowd levels. We had little to no wait for rides. The crowds did pick up later in the week, especially in Magic Kingdom.

This will be our first December trip. We are staying at CBR the 19 - 25. Excited to see the parks at Christmas, but very nervous about the holiday crowds. We have been in October the last 3 years and are spoiled by low crowd levels.

You will probably be coming in with the first wave of crowds. We have never stayed as late into Dec as we are plannning to this year and we may regret it. In 2007, the Saturday before wasn't too bad until noon, then tapered off at dark, but in 2008, the MK was a mad house all day long until we managed to crawl out close to midnight. All that week before wasn't bad, though.

That is what I am afraid of!! My son will be a freshman next year and really doesn't want to miss any school if at all possible, so we are going to give winter break a try. I have to give him credit for wanting to do well in school, but it does get in the way of my Disney planning.http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I understand completely, and am lucky we don't have children, so that we can do this, but it can be hard if you use an ECV as I have to do. We had my 10 year old cousin with us this past Dec and I was holding onto her so tight, it was a miracle she didn't have handprints on her arm, cause I had a death grip on her, but I was determined I wasn't going to lose her.

If the economy gets any worse, you might not have to worry about it though.

Thanks for the information. We are prepared for crowds and we will still be at Disney!!
:yay:

We haven't booked yet, but I have begun my sales pitch for a 1st time December trip. I want to experience double magic...Disney plus Christmas!

Just this week we booked our trip for Dec. 12 - 19. This trip is extra special because our nephews are joining us. It broke my heart that I wasn't able to go with them on their first WDW trip. Now I'm super excited that we get to see it through their eyes this year.

I called today to inquire about a package rate for those same dates. We want to stay at the Poly this time. We were there Dec 13-20 in 2008 and we loved the holiday look to everything. We are going in May, staying offsite to save some money. We considered the Beach Club for May since they had a great rate, but I decided staying offsite would make my chances greater of having the funds to stay at the Poly again in December. We stayed at CR last time but I was missing my Poly!
