Any Custodial for Fall 2010??? any Tips?

I did custodial in 2007, in Epcot World Showcase. I enjoyed it a lot. I love the guest interaction, and the freedom. Plus, it was great getting to see all the entertainment in the countries, and seeing Illuminations every night.

Is there anything you would like to know?

Just finished the acceptance part and I'll be starting custodial in August for the Fall 2010 program. I told the interviewer I liked Epcot a lot but we'll see what I get. Can't wait!!!

The costume is the same for MK, Epcot, and DHS (AK's costume is a little different). It's all white, with blue and yellow markings on the top. And the shoes are black sneakers.

I got accepted for Custodial! I hope I get into Hollywood Studios. It's my favorite of the parks and isn't as crazy as the Magic Kingdom. :p

I did Custodial in the Fall of 2007. I was at Animal Kingdom and LOVED it. I have had several different roles with Disney and I can honestly say custodial was my favorite. I am excited for you guys!

My son did Custodial in Hollywood Studios for Fall 09. He enjoyed it...except for the loud Block Party Bash which went on numerous times a day. He said all the Custodials were sick of hearing it after awhile! Other than that, be prepared to walk...a LOT! He had comfortable shoes and still got blisters the first couple of weeks. He and his Custodial friends figured they walked 10 - 12 miles per shift. The best part was the great friends he made via not only his roommates but also fellow Custodial staff at HS. Good luck!

Yes, Epcot for the win!!! What an excellent choice, I hope you get it! Gooooo Future World Custodial! Well, World Showcase is cool too ;)

Hey, my name's Taylor (im a guy) and i got it a little while back for custodial fall 2010 arriving on the 9th!! Im in the group on Facebook (and i put up a picture in the album) I too am hoping to get epcot because it is my favorite park! DHS would probably be the last park id like to work id due to the HSM that im already having to listen nearly daily....

Love HSM but I guess after a while it would get annoying. I love all the parks but I just love traveling around the world in one day, oh and Illuminations! If I had to rate though I guess I would pick DHS last LOL.

#1 Epcot
#2 Animal Kingdom
#3 Magic Kingdom
#4 DHS

Either way I think it'll be a blast.

Yay Epcot! "It's A Small World" LOL

Custodial is so much FUN! I did the spring adv program in 2009 (jan-aug). I worked in DHS and LOVED every moment of it! The people are beyond AMAZING!!!!! It's like a huge family :) There is never a dull moment and you have a HUGE amount of guest interaction. The only thing I can say is make sure you have good shoes and sunscreen. My parents sent me a pedometer and I walked around 10-12 miles a day, so good shoes are a must. yall are all going to have such an AMAZING time! I'm doing the summer alumni program (may-aug) this year and am doing custiodal again and i cant wait only 43 days!!!!!!!! Anyone that is doing the fall adv, i'll c yall in disney :)

I got custodial, haven't accepted yet though.
What are the hours like? Probably anytime day or night since they're always needed right?
Plus I'm just wondering what it's like in general, though of course I know what you do basically :P

I have a question.... How bad where the bathrooms? or the worst part of the job (the cleaning part)?

I never had problems with the restrooms. Once in awhile they could be a little messy. But I never had any disasters.

I guess the worst part (for me) would be the night detail, at times. At Epcot WS, there was a night detail for closers. The worst ones for me were cleaning the restaurant in Germany (because it's pretty big), and cleaning the American Adventure show. That place is HUGE. But overall, it was not bad at all

The hours will depend on where you work. At AK, they probably won't be too bad (since on average, the park closes by 5pm. And 8pm during the summer). MK will have the longest hours. I worked at Epcot, and I either opened (6:45am until 1:15 or 3:15pm) or closed (1:15 or 3:15pm until close).

Overall it's not bad. I loved the freedom that came with custodial, and being able to move around.

For me, restrooms were the worst part of the job. It was actually the only thing I didn't like to do. While I did have a few really bad messes in restrooms, overall they weren't that difficult. The thing I hated was just not being out with the guests. There was little guest interaction on a restroom shift. It was just rotating between the same 3 or 4 restrooms ALL DAY. I was lucky though. My managers knew I was good at guest interaction and streets, so they didn't give me restroom shifts as often. I had them maybe 2 or 3 times a month. It's not great, but it's doable. If I had to do restrooms every day, I would have hated it. But overall, it's not as gross as you would think.

I worked at DAK and my hours were pretty nice. CP's usually had to take the closing shifts, which were fine because at DAK those normally went no later then 11pm during peak season. There were several special events that required me to work later (until 2 or 3am). But those were fun. They were park buyouts and it was awesome to see the Animal Kingdom transform into a party. Some crazy stuff went down during those private hours. haha. And not many people get to see how beautiful that park is at night.

the shifts for me ranged from 6:30am starts, to 4pm starts and normally stayed like an hour after the park closed. It all really depends on what is happing in the park that day. Yes there is alot of cleaning, but there is a ton of helping out guests. You really are like a walking map. You will become amazing at everything there is to know about you park/area. It really is alot of fun!
