At the parks, is there any counter service that is worth going out of our way for? How about any that if we come across to avoid? I know 10 years ago, I went to ABC Commissary at MGM and it was gross, but it's been 10 years.

Thanks!

People seem to universally love Columbia Harbour House in the Magic Kingdom and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot - they are worth seeking out. We ate at both last year and really enjoyed them. Flame Tree Barbeque in Animal Kingdom has a lot of followers, too, I have not eaten there yet. Hollywood Studios is tough, we are skipping counter service there this time since none of it is very good. If you make it to Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwhich and Wolfgang Puck Express (Marketplace) are excellent choices as well. HTH!:goodvibes

10 years later and it's still as horrific and pathetic as your memory remembers; avoid this place at all cost. :rotfl2:

I'm not sure if there are any I'd say are worth going out of the way for, but there are a few that are very good and if in the area or the park, then yes, they are well worth the walk from one side of the park to the other to go to. My favorites are below.

DTD: Wolfgang Puck Express
Epcot: Tangierine Cafe (Morroco) & Sunshine Seasons (Land Pavillion)
AK: Flame Tree Barbecue
MK: Cosmic Rays
DHS: yea right. :rotfl:

Hi
Used the quick counter last years and using it again this September.

We're really looking forward to :-

Flame Tree BBQ in AK , major yum yum and great seating down by the lake.
Columbia House in MK , fish and chicken combo , delicsious!
Cosmic Rays in MK , great chicken and ribs combo there!!!!!
MGM...well we did in the Commissary and thought it was ok we do like the atmosphere in Backlot Express but all in all MGM hasn't a must do for us.

In Epcot we stuck with the Electric Umbrella but are trying Sunshine Seasons this year. Never really tried any of the "World" quick dining options , we have 3 fussy eaters in our party and can never seem to agree on any one in particular.

ABC Commissary is still gross . . .avoid it at all costs . . .:rolleyes1

Our favs are:

Flame Tree BBQ
Columbia Harbor House
Cosmic Rays
Liberty Inn
Electric Umbrella

What used to be good was Backlot Express for counter service at HS, but last time we went it was closed . . .

MK: Columbia Harbor House (tuna sandwich) and Cosmic Rays (BBQ ribs & chicken combo)

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons (grill station - salmon or pork chops; Asian station fabulous bakery counter for desserts; also in Epcot World Showcase-Morocco Tangierine Cafe shwarma platter, England Yorkshire Fish & Chips

AK- Flametree BBQ - ribs platter & lovely seating area back behind the place; also liked Pizzafari

DHS- for lunch, we like Starring Rolls (limited selection of pre-made gourmet deli sandwiches but we really liked both meat choices) and again, fabulous dessert choices (it's a bakery, nuff said:))

DTD: Earl of Sandwich for sandwiches, Wolfgang Puck is awesome -- you order at the counter like fastfood, but then waiter brings your food to you. Wonderful pasta dishes served with salad, also great pizzas.

Absolute favorite is Boulangerie Patisserie in France. SO good..plus you get one of those awesome desserts for your dessert. They have croissant sandwiches and french bread pizza. Not a huge menu but really good.

AK I agree with Flame Tree BBQ
HS I would say starring rolls
MK we like Caseys and Main street bakery

Some of our favorite CS places are:

MK: Cosmic Ray's
EP: Sunshine Seasons in The Land
HS: forget about it!!!!
AK: Flame Tree BBQ
DTD: Earl of Sandwich

We think Tangierine Cafe in Morocco is better than many of the TS places. It's out of the ordinary food and very good.

In 2006 we tried Toy Story Pizza Planet for our CS. While it was not the worst pizza I have ever eaten, it certainly wasn't good. Since then, we have been grabbing something from Rosie's All American Cafe along Sunset Blvd.

It's just the typical burgers and nuggets, but we have found the food to be hot and fresh. They don't have a "fixins bar," but the burgers come with lettuce, tomato and onion. The fries are pretty good as well. As long as it's not too hot, the outdoor seating area is very nice.

another "no" vote for abc here. we tried it in october last year. below average, for sure!

The only two I would seek out are Tangierine Cafe and Sunshine Seasons, both in Epcot.

The ABC Commissary is the worst meal (and the only really bad meal) I have ever had at WDW. The only thing going for it is the air conditioning, which is probably how it manages to hang on in its current form.

But not to worry, there is lots of really great CS - here are my favorites:

MK - Columbia Harbor House (love the upstairs seating).

AK - Love Yak and Yeti CS and Flame Tree BBQ

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons is probably the best CS in all of WDW

DHS - I have no suggestions for good CS.

DTD - Wolfgang Pucks Express is fantastic (I had the salmon with creme brulee for desert). This is my personal favorite CS!

Resorts -

POFQ - for DINNER (ribs, pot roast, chicken - mashed potatoes)

CR - Contempo Cafe - you can watch the monorails go by.

Poly - Captain Cooks (dole whip for desert!). You can have CS there for dinner and then go out to watch the fireworks and the electric water pageant.

My fav counter in the world:

MK - CHS, they had a great salad but it's been replaced and I haven't tried it, and Cosmic Ray's
Epcot - the Cantina, it closed, Sunshine Terrace at Epcot, Tangerine Cafe is good too
DTD - WPE is great

I don't do counter service at either DHS or AKL. At DHS I either do lunch at 50's PTC or H&V for priority seating for Fantasmic. I don't usually spend that much time at AK that I need a meal there. I like to go to AKL for a meal or back to the resort or another resort for a meal.

I would recommend Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe at the Magic Kingdom, Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney Marketplace, Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Gasparilla's Grill & Games at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Tangierine Cafe at Epcot is very good.

I could not AGREE more! THe Boulangerie Patisserie is amazing! Ham and cheese croissant is to DIE for! I eat there at least once each time I hit World Showcase!

I know it's not popular with everyone...but I do love Pecos Bills in MK!

I always have a good meal there, but I know a lot of people choose AGAINST it!

We just got back and at

MK we like Columbia Harbor House and Main St. Bakery (they have great sandwiches and baked goods)

AK - nothing here for me that I like

ST - Starring Rolls

EP - France Bakery and Norway Bakery. I really like the Mexico kiosk too. I'm in the minority but I do not like Sunshine Seasons. I got the asian noodles/vegies/and tofu (instead of meat) it tasted okay, but was cold and the noodles were gummy. However, the DESSERTS are great! In the past I've gotten the veggie cuban, no heck in my opinion
