My folks were in the area a while ago and they said there was construction going on that was causing major slowdowns. Anyone know if this is still going on ? We'll be there in about 5 weeks and probably staying in Tuscan Hills just off the 27 (I think) below the 192 so we'll have to travel that road to get to Disney.

Yes, there is still construction going on everywhere around that area. The worst is right near I-4.

Hi...it is a clear shot from 27 to Disney entrance on 192..huge construction is farther east before you get to Celebration.

should not be a problem to get to Disney....Ted

Excellent, that's great news. Thanks for the tip.

huh? When was the last time you were through there? I was in that area a few weeks ago and there was still a ton of work going on.

We were there from Nov 25 to dec 2...and last year for 3 months...Unless I am really losing my marbles all of the work on 192 that made it 3 lane is done down to the Disney entrance about 2 miles past Old Lake Wilson Road...It then gets real nasty where they are building the new interchange with I-4, but that is well after the Disney exit of 192.
Maybe someone else with a vocabulary other than "huh" can help you also...

Enjoy...Ted

Hi again...still waiting to find out if I am out to lunch on 192...There may be some construction by the new 429 way west of Disney, but again, I came off Formosa Gardens Blvd and it was slick...sooooooooooo,
Here is a way around most of the 192 construction if it is nasty where you come in from 27.

About a mile after turning east on 192 look for a red brick sign on your right that says Lindfields. Turn right on Lindfields Blvd...take this all the way to back of Lindfields to a T and turn left on Funie Steed Road...take Funie Steed to stop sign and turn left on Formosa Gardens. It will take you right to 192 and turn Right. Disney entrance is about 2 miles on your right. This will get you around construction if it is bad out by new 429 Interstate.

We go this way all the time and it is slick if traffic is heavy. And it is an adventure and you will see lots of housing developments you may have heard about like Emerald Island...

Good Luck...Ted

We are here now and the ramp to 4 WEST is closed. There is a detour and it'a s nightmare. Yes, there is construction going on. STILL !!

The 192 from the west end is clear - so Ted don't worry you are not losing your marbles as we say here :) there is construction going on at points alongside 192 but on on the road itself.
I have just come back from Lake Davenport Estates where Tuscan Hills is situated and the southern part of the 429 is now open so all work at that junction with the 192 is also finished.
From Tuscan Hills which is just 1 1/2 miles for the west end of 192 you can access WDW areas via Sherberth or the newer west entrance by using the Avalon /Hartzog road route which is quieter but maybe not quicker.

When I was through there three weeks ago, there was still construction slowing things around the 429--not related to teh 429. They were putting in new sewer lines or something along those lines and had shoulders closed just after the 429 as you head towards WDW.

Sounds like it's done now.

There's still a lot of construction on Route 27 as you head north from 192 that extends for several miles, and I do'nt think is scheduled to be completed any time soon. They will be working on 27 for the next few years, as they widen it to six lanes from Minneola to Davenport.

Griffin Road detour isn't bad at all, it's not as heavily travelled as the majority of the surrounding roads. It may be out of the way slightly but there are other I4 entrances. It just depends on where you are coming from.

I live here and know the area very well so if you need some help getting around let me know.

If you're staying in the 4 Corners area, construction won't be a problem. My husband commutes to Celebration every morning, then home again, home again jiggity jig every evening- it's a 15-20 minute drive.
The construction on 27 is annoying, but, again, nothing terrible.
I would say the biggest problems on 192 happen on Saturdays & Sundays, with all the tourists out, slow-poking their way down the road. :) If they're really bad, we just take Black Lake over to Sherbeth over to the AK area.
Cheers!
